Ok, so my G73jh-A3 that I won, will come with Windows 7 Home Premium.
I own a legal copy of 7 Ultimate Signature Edition ... should I stick w/ HP or upgrade to USE?

I don't use Bitlocker, but I DO LOVE the XP Mode.

    Opinions?

doesn't matter if you don't use bitlocker or language packs. I've got a signature version of 7 ultimate as well :) and it isn't any different than home premium in day-to-day, unless I'm doing presentations and want my computer to appear non-english.

you could just install an asus cert and have the upgrade done in place without reinstalling...

but I'm not sure you'd even notice a performance difference with XP mode vs. VMware or VirtualBox, if you use it a lot and like it, then upgrade. If you havn't used XP mode yet, I can't imagine you will later ...

If you dont use the features than stick with what comes on the laptop. You can always upgrade if you decide to use either bitlocker or xp mode.

DCx I have used it ... up till March when Logitech released an update. I haven't used it since though. The *ONLY* reason I used XP Mode was because QuickCam didn't work natively in 7.

Guess I'll stick w/ Home Premium on the laptop, and keep my desktop installed with USE

Will you also use your netbook for work in a corporate environment?
If yes, please remember that Home Premium edition can't connect to a Windows domain.

Which one is right for you? - Microsoft Windows

Although (AFAIK) Home Premium edition allows directory and printer sharing on the network (maybe with a little configuration work to do, google for "windows 7 home domain join"), I had to advise against using it in a corporate environment, where you may be asked to join the domain (i.e. authenticate on it) to profit by company services such as internet access.

Ultimate or Professional are the choices for using Windows 7 at work.

And remember, you can always upgrade your installation using a certification/key insertion. That way you use can upgrade to windows ultimate (using your key) without having to reinstall.

Oem cert is the same for all edition ... you just have to enter the oem key to upgade.

Legit forum .. all the oem keys listed .. :
Windows 7 OEM SLP Key Collection

Enter ultimate key and it upgades almost every notebook win7 install to any version u want fully offline and stays legit activated forever :p

There is 0 reason to buy os for notebook that has oem slic in the bios :p ..

Ah, but that would be illegal. This information is VERY useful for people like me that have an unused copy of Windows7 Business/Ultimate but don't want to reinstall.

    Thanks for posting it ;)
