It's about time to get my wife a new computer. She has some obsession with white computers though, and everything on the W7J fits perfectly... other than I can't seem to find a white one. A good deal of the pictures on the internet are of a white version, and they show it on the ASUS site, but I can't seem to find one.

Any idea why, or where to get one?? I want to just buy one from proportable.com, but if I can find the white elseware, I would be happy with that. Thanks!!

The z35f comes in white or charcoal. It's a 13.3" BOA version of the the W7J. It comes with an integrated graphics card which translates into longer battary life (for non graphic intense users). Also, the lack of an integrated camera might help to keep your wife out of trouble ;) It's fully customizable which could end up saving you some coin!

If it is for your wife i doubt she will be playing any 3d games a z35f white would be a great alternative and about 300$ less expensive if configured the same

Ok guys, I DO want to get dedicated graphics in her system. First, she will probably have this for a while, and I want to be sure she is set if she wants Vista Aero to run somewhere down the road. Second, she DOES play emulator games, and Project 64 is actually too demanding with multiple players on her current integrated graphics rig.

So does that mean nobody knows why you cant buy the white w7j anywhere??

Asus NA chose to only import the black model to the North American market. As I recall, there was a discussion about which color might it be way back when it was first floated that the W7 "might" be coming into the US. Initially, I think it was that the US and Canada were each going to get one color (or US gets one and Canada would get both, I forget). In the end, black is the only color you can currently get for a W7 in North America because that's what Asus NA in Fremont chose to bring in and ship to all the distributors & resellers.

Ok, thanks!! She may have to suck it up and get black then, or find a different computer (she keeps shooting me down on the Dell m1210).

The white W7's didn't come in because the "white option" on the ensembles in the same range would go to the W5f.... Making the W7 white would first, limit it's sales, but also take away more sales from the W5.

    Wow... Random!

Have you concidered a proportable custom paint job?? I'm sure a basic request for white would be much cheaper than the Papaya job done for the Audi TT owner.
