I need my laptop really quickly (I'm leaving country for vacation soon), but it seems like no reseller has the new W3J in yet.

Does anyone have it? And if not by when can I expect it?

According to one of Eddie's posts yesterday, 3 NA resellers bought up the entire initial shipment of 120 units into the US and should have had them in stock as of this w/e - Geared2Play.com, Powernotebooks.com, and Proportable.com. Everyone else has to wait until Asus NA gets the next order in, which is unknown.

That's correct, there was a supplimental shipment last week but for us anyway, it wasn't large enough to meet our backorder requirements..... some more are coming in today or tomorrow I believe, which should allow us to get rid of our backorders and have some actually in stock for new orders. The "big shipment" we've all been waiting for won't arrive until sometime towards the begining of the second week of July.

I have to correct myself actually. That shipment that was arriving tomorrow came in today and that took care of the remainder of the backorders and left about 18-19 for actual "in stock" status...... I know this isn't on topic, but to my surprise, the A6jc refresh came in last Monday while I was out and all backorders were filled and I think there are still some left...

Sems like they ran out too. I'm afraid I'll never get one on time. Why does Asus offer such a limited amount. And why don't they sell it themselves just like Hp, and Sony.

Well I got that part down. I want to know why doesn't ASUS sell it themselves just like other manufacturers. I called another reseller, said they might have them by mid August. At least that what ASUS told them.

Please name one single manufactuter that actually odms and sells to the public. If you were going to name dell sony hp or gateway those are NOT manufacturers.

exactly... they just rebadge the stuff under their chassis.

I realize these asus notebooks are not as plentiful as those manufacturers, but the quality is so much better than those at least IMO. Those manufacturers you listed you can just buy them at any electronics retail store like frys, good guys, compusa, etc.

    They are oem's.
Manufactuter of the shell and mobo =odm
Integrator of the various components= oem
Asus is both an oem and an odm. One of a kind actually. no other like them

I want one of these, i won't have the money till probably next friday though. Is there anyway to hold one in stock someplace if they have it, or do you think some places will have them back in stock by then? I am looking to get it with a extra AC adapter and another 1 gig of ram and overnight shipping.

    Thanks

Just contacted sales department of ASUS. Supposedly they are suppose to have a new batch by the end of next week (at least the distributers should) and resellers will get them a bit later. Hopefully this is true.

I still don't have an ASUS and their Customer Support was great. I can't imagine how it will be if I buy a notebook. Not that I think I will be calling due to problems. Hopefully not.

    Cant wait... :D :D :D

How ocme MilestonePC does not appear as a reseller on the ASUS website. Although, I could not argue with the price offered, how much is shipping?

If you do a quick forum search you'll find there are an abundance of people who have bought from milestonePC and had positive results.

cool... I don't know if I should take the chance of waiting for the new batch or buying the only one left in the "USA". Especially since the next batch is suppose to come by late next "week".
Who knows the new batch might have some flaws fixed.
