Hi,
I have a Z70Va that I bought about a year ago and no matter what program I use I get the MS_0000 for my display. Anyone know why that might be? Thanks.

Goren,
Yes, I tried Everest Home edition and I tried the other program mentioned in this thread. So, I don't know. I heard that it was supposed to be a Samsung. Anyway, thanks for the help.

I'd like to contribute and i've downloaded Everest home edition but i dont know where i can get the data (whenever i select plug and play monitor, it gets me to display properties)

hehe i get
" Monitor Plug and Play Monitor "
Thats MS000 for ya. But to confirm what you figured about the 15 inch ips screens from sager.. i have a terrible "response" time such that any panning/scrolling shots from animated movies are blurryPlus, it's not much brighter than a friend's clevo 5720 (very nice screen too).
O well.. at least i have decent viewing angels. -
jwb-VT,
More details please (LG)! Light leakage, brightness, color accuracy, invertor(??).

Sorry it's taken me so long to get back to this....
The LG-Philips Panel that I installed is MUCH better in all the areas that you are concerned about. This is of course in comparison to the terrible AUO panel that I removed.
Light Leakage: Light Leakage is uniform (unlike the AUO) and due to the somewhat low contrast ratio (300:1 I believe) but still quite acceptable.
Brightness: The LG-P panel is slightly brighter than the AUO. The much improved, though still not perfect viewing angles make this much less of a factor. The 'sweet spot' is much larger than the AUO's.
Color Accuracy: Also much better than the AUO. This is in part due to the much less aggressive glare filter (polarizer) applied to the LG-P panel. The wider, though again not perfect viewing angles help this area as well.
Inverter: The LG-P panel has an inverter clip w/inverter tack welded to the bottom of the LCD frame. This inverter and clip needs to be removed for the panel to fit into the A8JS screen cover. (Once removed the panel is a perfect fit.) It's a simple though fairly delicate job which of course voids the waranty on the LG-P Panel. The A8JS stock inverter runs the LG-P panel perfectly.
Please feel free to send me a private message and I'll be glad to offer as much detail as you need!

A8Js: first generation, purchased early November (Canada)
Screen: AUO1247
Opinion: would *LOVE* to replace this screen on a warranty/RMA. -
Has anyone had their screen replaced by Asus? Specifically someone with a AUO screen. I have the AUO on my A8Js and I'm not happy with it. I have finally found somewhat of a "sweet spot" for viewing the screen (angle and distance away) but it's not very comfortable. I would like to have it replaced with the CMO but I don't want to go through all the hassle of sending it in and being without the computer only to get it back with another slightly less crappy AUO than I have now.

Just wanted to add that I own a z70va and I also have a MS_0000 screen.
But this screen is the single best laptop screen I have ever dealt with. After using notebooks made by Sony, Dell, HP, and Asus, This screen is far and above any other I've ever seen. I love it. I have absolutely no leakage at any point, whites are very clear, and blacks are very dark. Everything looks crisp and sharp, and it has excellent viewing angles, especially vertically, I can move my screen till it's almost 180 degrees and I can still see what I'm typing. There are some small things I don't like about the z70va, but the screen is definitely not one of them. -
Z84j . LG philips screen. No wonder the color looks so accurate and view angles are great too. Only very small light leakage on the right corner of the screen.
I compare z84 with toshiba sattellite, the one on toshiba is much more brighter.. and white is white. Black is black. No wonder movies looks so true on this toshiba. The one on Asus is a little bit disappointed . It looks like toshiba''s screen is 250nits and Asus is 200nits bright. (just a guess). -
I purchased a A8JS-4S036C from Surcouf ( www.surcouf.com) in France.
Monitor ID: CMO1416
Manufacturer: N141C1-L02
The screen seems very "grainy" to my eyes, probably because of the antireflective and glossy coating.
What is your opinion? Do you find it "grainy" too? -
My G1 has a CMO1523, verified by both the device manager and Everest. Everest also give a manufacturer ID of N154Z1-L02, although this looks more like a model number to me. Also, Everest reports the manufactured date as 1990, which I'm inclined to disbelieve

Anyone with the MS_0000 screen ever take their laptop apart and find out the name of the manufacturer? Is it always an off-brand screen or can it be a well-known manufacturer?

Weird part about this is that when the LG-Philips Panel is connected NVidia Display Control identifies the LCD screen resolution correctly as well as the Driver Hardware ID labels it as a LPXXXX. So I don't know why it's all screwy like this.
But all this said and done, it could be the panel itself that is faulty. But there is no other way I can test it. -
Ordering a cable is certainly an easy and cheap way to check
Just make sure that the connector on the MB is the same, if you plan to order a cable for a different type of notebook.

CMO1523 on my G50V-A1.
Looks excellent but a bit reddish. Don't know if it's normal on LCD displays or if I'm just used to look at CRT monitors. This is my first LCD display. -
My Asus M50VM-B2 hardware ID lists my screen as MONITOR\AUO1B7B, so I guess that means my screen is a AU Optronics (which looks magnificent BTW).

Hi there. I checked my screen and I have:
AUO2277
I have problems with it though. I think I have a bad LCD. It looks washed out and the screen bleed down the bottom is very noticeable. Here are some photo's, give me your opinion:
Completely black screen.
Watching a DVD
I contacted Asus. My message was:
Hello there.
I was hoping you would be able to help me. I love my new laptop, but I have a persistent problem I need addressed. I have an issue with my LCD screen. It is a 15.4" WXGA+. The most significant issue is the back light bleed down the bottom of the screen and decreased viewing angle. The colours look washed-out and pale, and it appears slightly grainy. It very noticeable during movie playback, game playback etc. I noticed this upon buying but wasn't sure it was actually an issue. After trying to watch films and gaming though I'm very concerned as it distracted significantly and detracted from my experience. Also, I've been scouting PC stores to see what their screens compare like, and I'm positive that my monitor is faulty. I thought maybe it was the settings, but I altered these and the issues are still very visible. Furthermore, no damage has befallen my notebook. I'm very, very careful with it. I checked the device manager and my monitor is listed as MONITOR\AUO2277. I have some photo's I have taken for proof of the problem, but there is no option to attach them. In future correspondence I will be able to attach these through my email. I would like to have the monitor replaced if possible. The outlined functions (movies, games) it affects are what I primarily use the laptop for. The problem hampered my viewing and I've resigned myself to no gaming as I can't
see in darker areas. It is not what I paid for. If you could help me that would be very much appreciated.
Yours Sincerely, James Sxxxxx
The reply I got was less than satisfactory. I received:
Good Morning
Please be advised it is unfortunate but there is nothing wrong with the monitor attached to your notebook.
Here is the new panel that is in the machine
V-Cut LCD Technology for better viewing
With the use of V-Cut Technology in its LCD panels, the M51 improves quality of viewing. The V-Cut technology increases luminance by 30%, as well as reduces the weight of the panel and also improving on power saving. In combination with ASUS Colour shine glare-type and Crystal shine high brightness, helps to present images in their true vibrant colours
Thank you
I'm very annoyed at this. Can anybody help me? What should the next step be? I wish I had an Asus Repair Center in my state so I could show them. I problem is really irritating and not worth the money I paid.
Who made the lcd of your asus notebook?
