I am wondering what kind of games do you play on this notebook?
Also what kind of battery life can be expected?
How does the finish hold up toward scratches and smudges?
How are the temperatures with the notebook is in use?
How is the build quality?
I will appreciate any help on these topics.

With respect to games, the computer will allow you to play games, but no where near maximum settings, except for games a few years old.
If you just want to play, and don't care about graphics, you should be able to play new games. You will have to turn off all the pretty things though.
I had read reports on 3.5 - 4 hrs battery life, and that the build quality is sturdy, except for some keyboard flex. You should try to see one in person (or a g-series or other laptop with the chiclette keyboard) to get a feel for it. It's certainly different from your standard keyboard.
The externals will likely get scratches over time, because of its sandy surface. Apparently it collects little bits of crap.
I have no idea about the heat, but with a i5 and GPU, don't expect it to run THAT cool. It likely is about "normal" in the emissions department. Not hot like a G51, not cool like a Macbook.
All of that said, its a great general-purpose computer at an amazing price. -
Any more input on these machines?

I have been searching a lot in the net about this asus k42jk because it's all packed w/ hyped specs at an amazing price; but no user reviews as of the moment. I have a friend that bought an asus f series w/ almost the same specs and price 1 1/2 years ago. It was working good not until after 10 months when it started having BSODs, overheating, and crashes. I also own an ASUS eeepc (seen in my signature) which runs on Linux Xandros OS. It also has a lot of crashes. Due to these, considering asus k42jk to buy is becoming slim for me 'cos I'm also planning to buy a new notebook to replace my 5-year old neo q-note...
Who owns a Asus K52JK-A1 or K42JK-A1?
