I'm looking to Get the Asus C90s and every post i've read people are only getting around 3Dmark06 3500 tops...why is this?

Dosen't it have a Desktop CPU? and isn't the GPU overclockable?

3500 is not a bad score given that the 3dmark06 are tests in 1280x1024 resolution. This score really reflects the GPU, and not the CPU. And yes, the GPU can be overclocked, but depending on which GPU you have (512mb DDR2 or 256mb GDDR3), they will have different limits. It also depends on which drivers you have installed and what OS you have. XP will give higher scores than vista.
With my C90S I get about 3600 but have heard some others getting well over 4000.

Now, is around 3600 low or not? I was looking to get this laptop myself, and if it's not performing at adequate rates (for gaming at least)...

Would the 256mb ddr3 8600m gt boost that score a little?

With my gddr3 card, 3Dmark06 set to standard 1280x1024, and the C90s on Standard mode, not OC or Gaming mode, I get 3657. With this card you can get up to 4600 or so with OC'ing the GPU to 500/800 using Riva Tuner.

All these scores are NOT low for a 15 inch laptop. My son's Asus A8js will get around 2200 everything standard/stock.

a score of 3600 is pretty good compared to other 15" notebooks. The 256 GDDR3 card will be slightly better than the 512mb DDR2 since it can be clocked to higher speeds.

To put it in perspective, my Acer Ferrari 4005, which will run CSS and HL2 smoothly at native 1680x1050 resolution, gets less than 500 on 3dMark06 same settings where my C90s with no OC'ing gets around 3700 and that's with my virus scanner, spysweeper, etc etc running during the test.

Ok, so I'm safe if I choose an E4400 (C2D 2.0ghz), an 8600m gt ddr3, 2 gigs Ram with XP?
Glad to hear it, for a moment you had me scared. :O
