I've scoured the internet trying to find a place to buy a G series computer in Japan, to no avail.
Oddly enough, Asus itself doesn't advertise any of the G series in their own website.
Does anyone know if they are marketing them through another brand?
In a related topic, how much would be the shipping cost from the US to Japan for one of these laptops?

Not all models are sold worldwide. And many times, a particular model has different submodels depending on geographical region. It all depends on whether ASUS feels they would be making enough profit from a particular model in a particular market.
You could get it shipped from the US... with sizable shipping+customs fees. Not sure what that would amount to, choose a reseller (see e.g., info booth) and contact them about it. -
Guess I could just order one from Taiwan, too? That could be cheaper.

why not just take a flight to Taiwan and buy it there?

You could purchase laptops from Taiwan, but it'll be hard to find a store that will ship them. Also, Asus laptops in Taiwan are usually more expensive compared to the US. It's often cheaper if you just buy from a US reseller and have them ship it to Japan.

Why aren't the G series available in Australia?
Different countries will have different notebooks. I don't know why. Example, the Toshiba A300 was ONLY ever sold outside the US, the US had the A305 instead. It's the same as cars. Some cars will be sold in one country but not another. -
What would be an alternative to the all too sexy ASUS G73JH-A1? Is there any other model, maybe from another make, that rivals this beast?
