(Sorry if I ramble, but I'm typing this at 3 am. Suppose I am looking for some validation) :err:
I was surfing the net feeling psyched at this awesome buy I made until I came upon this forum. I'm scrolling through and seeing V1Jp, A8JP, W3J, G1.....etc....
Tonight I decided to make my first higher end laptop purchase (goodbye compaq v5210us) I had been searching for quite awhile and for the money the ASUS F3JP for $1298 (+$14 shipping) could not be beat (I think?) I am getting the following configuration:
    Intel Core 2 Duo T7200 2.0G
ATI Mobility Radeon X1700 (256MB VRAM, up to 512MB Hyper Memory)
    1 gb DDR2 667 ghz ram
    120 gb ram 5400rpm
    15.4" WXGA Screen
    MS Vista Home Premium
I wanted at least a 15 inch screen, the T7200 is a sweet processor. I wanted an ATI GPU (last couple of laptops have had them, never had an issue), my main game playing is done on a PS3 (what a purchase that was, I really needed a $600 unit to play my ps2 games on. At least those look really good  )
I guess its kinda late, but I'll ask for piece of mind, was their a better buy that I missed?

Funny I came across this post as I received my new F3JP today. I got the one with the WSXGA screen (1680x1050) for $200 more on newegg. I am very impressed with it so far. The screen is absolutely gorgeous. It's better than the screen on my last laptop, a Dell XPS Gen 1 with 1920x1200 resolution, which is quite odd. I think maybe because it's brighter; I'm not sure. Anyway, I am thinking of writing a review for this great laptop.

if its the same one on the g1 it has a lcd tech where the prism spreads the light more evenly.
Its not brighter its average but it has very wide viewing angle compared to anything in its range.
Asus doesnt have its own marketing word for it even but it is different than other screens. Its called lgp prism
Not as good as the IPS lcd technology
