I'm convinced my z63a is great portable, business ready machine. However, as we all know, when it comes to games and music... well its not necessarily leading the pack.

So with that, I've decided to leave the z63a for business use only, and get myself a multimedia ready "play" machine. Here is the FAQ's I filled out in the "help me choose" section:

I've been in contact with Justin and I agree that, in terms of bang for the buck the v6va is a great choice, and waiting on the new chipset is probably not something that will benefit me much.

So, what am I missing? Is the v6va what I'm looking for? Will it keep me in the gaming world for a few years to come? Is there another model (no larger than 15") that I should look into?

    Thanks for your time guys.

Why you should not....... I think the only good reason would be because you already have a computer.

The V6j is more than 45 days away and although you get a new chipset - you lose the IPS screen....... instead of a 128mb ati x700 you'll get a 128mb nvidia 7400.... most people say they basically pump out the same numbers.

The IPS screen is the biggest thing to me, but it depends on when you need it and what's avaialable when you do.

y not jump on the Acer 8200 bandwagon?? its got everything, i mean like EVERYTHING LOL.

the V6va is 15" while most people are now going for Widescreen for movies and awsome real estate, able to have 2 windows side by side.

totaly up to you, you needa wait like 2 weeks and you will see a few Yonah laptops our on the market, and by the end of FEB you'll see about 2 dozen laptops out and yah... more later on too LOL.

up to you, how long can you wait?

Also Yonah is not much more expensive than the current pentium-m...

    hope this helps,

    Thanks,

The 8200 looks nice but to bad Acers are built like a pile a dung. They are cheap with good components but man are their cases crap flex everywhere even the 8100 flag model. And the IPS screen will kill anything acer will use.

if gaming is your need, why not just go for the Z81SP? Sure, it's heavy and got low battery life, but that's what your Z63a is right? Some how I think you purchasing your v6va would make your z63a lonely and left alone :p at least with the Z81SP, you know you'll have to take the z63 around to be mobile, while you will certainly get the best gaming card in an Asus at home.

Goren's got a point there.... but as of right now in terms of WSXGA+ or SXGA+ screens that Asus is using right now... the V6va's has the best and the Z81sp has the worst...... their worst is still better than most people, but.... I guess it's a matter of how important gaming is. I'd personally suggest a nice desktop unit before going with the Z81.

No.... don't get me wrong. For the most part when I talk about Asus in terms of good and bad....... you have to consider that means between excellent and pretty good when looking at the entire notebook market..... It's just easier for me to look at it this way since this is an Asus dedicated forum.

Why not get a V6Va? Because if you get one, you'll never think any notebook on the face of the earth is worthy of being called a "notebook computer". You'll look at all other notebooks and laugh at how inferior they are - people will think you're a show-off. It will make other people jealous (including myself) and I'll forever hate you.

Hehe...all kidding aside, I can't see a reason for you to NOT get it... other than to save your money! Go on a nice date with that special someone...or invest!

That's actually a really good reason...... it'll make you a snob and who likes a snob? If you have nothing else to strive for, you'll just fade away into nothingness........
