    Hey blacsheep,
At a guess you may just have to instal drivers for it. First take a look in the device manager (right click on my computer on desktop > manage > select device manager from left menu)
Under network adapters check to see if you have a Wireless adapter installed. If you don't check the ASUS website or the driver cd that came with the notebook for a drive update and try that. Failing that check with where you got the notebook from and confirm that it does come with a wireless card. Although this model is supposed to, ASUS notebooks are often configured by the retailer, and thus specs can differ slightly from the ASUS website.
If it is installed it is probably just disabled, re-enable it in device manager and this should fix the problem.
    good luck

    heyas

yeah there is definatly only the lan card installed in the network adapters, but there is also no un-installed devices in the device manager either [ :(]I'm guessing this means that this model didn't actually come with a internal wireless card.
    Bugger

heyas, also i investigated further into the driver CD that came with the laptop, there are WLAN dirvers on it, but when accessing the cd from the autorun menu that pops up, there is no option to install them...kinda weird
It can't hurt to run the install utility directly from the files on the cd and install the drivers anyway can it? i can always uninstall them if it comes up with nothing

ANyway all help very welcome on this :)

my plan is that maybe i'll need to go buy another wireless lan adapter because i would like to run a ad-hoc network from my desktop PC which already has a wireless network adapter hooked up....hopefully i can get the internet sharing this way :)

I think notebook configuration varies by market. My one doesn't have Wifi. I bought Asus 107g PCMCIA cards for notebook and ASUS 138g cards for desktop machines, which all support 802.11g (54Mbit/s).
However I have several problems with it, I suspect PCI cards can't recover after sleep mode, I still have to investigate that.
Anyway it works, with lot of configuration issues and need to restart desktop machine from time to time.

I have the same notebook & I was very disappointed to learn that the Wireless is an "option"!!! [} :)][} :)]So it doesn't have it by default & you must buy it later!!

It's no big deal to buy it, e.g. Asus 107g PCMCIA card costs 26 euros (cca US$30) in Serbia, and we are not a cheapest market.
Only drawback is that antena part of that card, maybe 2-3cm, is outside of notebook, so I have to remove card before I put notebook in a bag. Actually it can fit in a bag, but it seems a bit risky to leave it.

yeah i'm going to buy a USB wireless network adapter for it. that way i'm not limited to just using it on my laptop [ :D]

Any of you guys play with wireless networks in order to share the internet? i've already got a ethernet network with a router so i plan on plugging one USB network adapter into my PC and another into my notebook and then share the internet using ADHOC mode ....shouldn't need a wireless access point or a wireless router that way....well that's my theory...sound fine to you guys? or am i crazy? Well i'm in New Zealand so prices might be slightly different [ :p] but i bought to belkin USB network adapters and just run them on a ad hoc basis it works great for net sharing ...but it means that i can only access the computer with the other usb network adapter for files etc

    Works fine at any rate
