I ran 3DMarks06 on my Asus G1S for the first time and got a score of a little over 3800. This was the first time I was running it and had some background programs like IE and messengers open. So i rebooted my computer and reran the test twice, getting a score of a little under 3500 both times.

What type of score should I be getting for my G1S on Vista with 163.44 drivers? Also, does anyone know what could explain the lower score after a fresh rebooot?

try reformatting and getting rid of all the bloatware and MAKE sure your RUNNING IN GAMING Mode or else it will be a lot slower! 3800 sounds about right

Kinda wierd that the score was 300-400 points lower AFTER a restart so I don't have junk that I opened running in the background.

I'll check my score when I get my G1S (hopefully monday/tuesday). Like Theros said reformat your HDD and install fresh Vista / Windows XP and latest drivers off Asus Drivers Download page, you'll see a significant increase in perfomance.

Not many people seem aware of this but.. It's temperature.

Try running 3dMark06 as soon as you start the system after not using it for a while. You'll get a much higher score then you would when the system has been running for a few hours.

As for what does this, I'm not entirely sure. I think it's something on a BIOS/CMOS level.

I thought about temperature as a factor to why the 2nd and 3rd run might have been slower, but I kinda disregarded it since the new Santa Rosa tech is suppose to be able to run a lot more efficiently under those temps.

I'll give the test another go when the notebook is cooler to see if temperature has any negative effects.

My apologies if this question has been answered, but how do you run 3dmarks in "gaming mode"? Is this a special feature? How would I be able to enable it? Thanks.

Well I ran the test again when the laptop had been turned off for a few hours. The score jumped back from between 3400-3500 to 3800-3900. So it does seem that when the laptop has been on for a while, performance is effected.

Voodoo: By "gaming mode" I think he means the default power settings the G1S comes with. The mode you want to be in is "High Performance". You can switch between the modes using one of the top right silver buttons on the keyboard or by clicking on the battery icon in the task manager
