My friend's Asus doing some wierd things. She just purchased it. Ethernet card seems to crash the laptop. She has to run it on battery + plug the internet cable out to prevent Vista crash on start up.

Any similar experiences ? Recommendations ?

With respect to kvehh's opinion, however, depending on your expertise and comfort with running an XP install perhaps a better option to try first would be using the HDD recovery partition to reinstall Vista and see if the cause for her problems was a driver conflict that creeped in :) - since she just purchased it, she might not have too much software or data that would be lost through this approach and it just might solve her problem completely.

    Could be a hardware issue?

Could be, or could be a stock driver problem.
In which case I also suggest updating/downdgrading the Ethernet driver. Or use the card manuf's driver instead of ASUS, if available.

In fact, try that before system recovery, since it's less time consuming, and if it solves the problem you can just close the issue.

please reinstall the appropriate cam drivers for the webcam first. The cam drivers on the f3 series are known to cuz some weird issues with startup/shutdown/sleep/hibernation.

you need to install the appropriate cam drivers depending on the manufacturer of the webcam. you should find everything you need on the asus site.

    good luck. keep us updated
