I did a fresh install of Windows 7 on my laptop, and then used Asus' website, ASUSTeK Computer Inc. -Support- Drivers and Download N56VZ , to download the necessary drivers, but when I try to install the wireless drivers it fails, the Intel WiFi Wireless LAN Driver gives an error "the device driver installation wizard was unable to find any drivers for your machine". The Atheros Wireless Lan Driver and Application gives the error "The device may not be present or could have been ejected/unplugged from the system".
When I check the device manager the device is not present in the list. Anyone know of a solution?

Is the WiFi card disabled or in Airplane mode? Try pressing FN and F2 to turn the wireless adapter on.
You may need to install the ATK package from Asus' website, as well. You can find it under the utilities drop down list in the Download section of the support page for your laptop.
Feel free to refer to this thread as well: http://forum.notebookreview.com/asus/694254-asus-n56vz-win8-keyboard-drivers.html -
To my knowledge I haven't done anything to disable it, it just didn't appear after the reinstall. Yep, I've installed the ATK package, the function buttons work fine, FN+F2 says that all wireless devices are on anyway, but it doesn't seem to fix it.

If it doesn't show up in Device Manager under Network adapters, and if it doesn't show up under Other or anywhere with an exclamation mark for that matter, then it's probably a conflicting driver. Try clicking on View > Show Hidden Devices (or click on More Actions in the right pane and then Show Hidden Devices.
If it shows up with that, then you can uninstall the driver for it and try again - perhaps in Safe Mode. -
I couldn't find the device when looking at the hidden devices, although the Atheros Ethernet Controller was present. One thing else that I noticed just now was that I got an error saying the drivers could not be installed for the SM Bus Controller and the Network Controller, could that have something to do with it? Thanks

Did you install the chipset driver first, when you re-installed Windows? Chipset driver should always come first. -
Never installed the chipset driver... Installed it, then the other drivers installed no problem and I have wireless internet
Thank you so much kind person
