I doubt there will be any troubles with the 8600GT, unless it is a drivers problem(Go Vista! Gaming + Vista = ayyeeeeeeee!).

I agree Warcraft III is much older and WoW is Blizzards money maker so I would think that they would make sure vista would support it :D

    Huh?

What are you comparing? If you mean the up to 1gb, that's assuming to be HyperMemory.

World of Warcraft works fine. It runs like 45fps in Shat'rath on a HIGH POP Server, @ full resolution and all the eye candy.

The trouble with Warcraft III/Frozen Throne is, after installing it and trying to play the game, it won't let you load the game. It gives you an error saying to insert a valid War3 or TFT CD in your drive.

I've installed the game with both a War3 CE (Collector's Edition) disc and a normal War3 disc and with 2 different TFT CDs, all are retail mint condition CDs, and it still comes up with the same erorr. I've also went through the trouble of ripping an ISO from the CDs and loading it with Daemon Tools, as a last resort to get it running, and still doesn't work. I've sent in an support email to blizzard, and they still haven't yet responded.

    Edit:
I dunno if it's the CD encryption that isn't working properly with the DVD-RW drive on the G1S or if it's vista or what not, but I'm pretty sure it's the Drive's firmware or the encryption on the CD which the drive is having troubles with.

The install on Warcraft 3/TFT works, it just won't let you run it. Also I've tried the Compatibility Option under the properties and trying to run it as a Windows XP SP2 mode, and it still gives out the same problem. I've pretty much in my eyes, and knowledge have come up with everything that I can think of to get Warcraft III/TFT working on the G1S, I've checked Blizzard's support pages, and even searched on google and still no solution.

lol ok hold on....let me rephrase

On gentech's site it offers the "nVidia GeForce G8600M GT 256MB up to 1G/DX10" in the ASUS G1S and I was wondering if this was the upgrade from the one that Xotic PC offers which is the same thing but up to 512 MB...i just want to know if it's the same card but Gentechs is just better lol.

G1S is 256MB Physical ONBOARD video memory, it can be Turbo Cached to 512MB total (taking 256MB from system memory).

I haven't messed with the option yet, but I'm pretty sure that's how it works.

so it's a Vista problem.... now another patch to wait for. MS should send out "Product Developer" badges to all the users who are waiting for patches.

Up to 1GB with 768 shared depending on how many system RAM you have, if you have 2GB it won't take up to 768 and end up slow down your system performance with only 1280MB system RAM left :

I have the same problem, but I found out that it will work right after a reboot. But after u quit, u have to reboot again if u want to play again. Its odd my other vista machine doesn't do this.

You who own a legal copy of WC3 but have trouble playing it, have you tried using a no-cd patch from gamecopyworld?
