Quick question - will it use two 4gb ddr3 sticks and use them at the full speed?
-
No. It can only use DDR2 RAM

Just load that sucker up with an 8GB kit. 8GB DDR2 kits are getting pretty cheap lately.

I'm sure there are better deals out there, especially on eBay. I'm just giving this to you as a head start.
Personally, I would wait a little longer for 8GB prices to fall around the $250 range. You never know what the 2009 Christmas season can do to prices. -
Cool. I'll probably wait. If it took ddr3, I was going to wait for those prices to come down and get 8gb so there's no rush. Thanks for the help, rise

Sure, no problem. I'd say just use 4GB for now. You can find 4GB kits for dirt cheap at every store.

There are no/little performance difference between DDR2 and DDR3 laptop memory as of now. The high latencies on the DDR3 prevent it to surpass DDR2 speeds. I wouldn't worry about it if your concern is performance related.
Will a G51Vx-a1 use ddr3 memory?
