I should of asked this BEFORE I bought the Audigy 2 ZS sound card from Amazon.com, but will the Audigy 2 ZS fit into my A8Jm? I have a feeling that the answer is no.
If not, is there an alternative?
-
-
The A8jm doesn't have a PCMCIA slot, it has an expresscard slot I believe....therefore....no.
But you can still get a PCMCIA adapter I believe... -
Most likely not. I have the Audigy 2 ZS as well and the connector is different from expresscard esata card I bought. I do not dare to try to put the ZS into the expresscard slot =) Other alternative? Not that I can think of, but if you have another laptop that uses PCMCIA then you're good to go, otherwise you might want to refund that card. IMHO the card is alright and does its thing but maybe Creative should release an external usb Xifi card. =)
-
oh is that right? then I may not end up with a piece of junk. I'll take a look around.
-
I dont think their are any adapters for that. i have seen pcmcia to usb but those where like 300 last time i saw them.
-
So now is there any other options to get 5.1 sound on a this laptop? -
I dont know about this asus model which is a surprise. But many asus models can take a toslink cable i believe or some digital out cable. My w2v and z63a can . So you can prob do it that way. That is if asus didnt take that feature away. just sell the audio adapter on ebay you will get close to what you paid just dont open it.
-
yea, the headphone jack is also a digital audio jack as well. So what do I need?
-
http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=55172&page=5 check my post, this is what you need to get digital audio from W3, enjoy
-
but how do i connect an optical cable to 3 RCA cables from my speakers system to get 5.1 sounds? Is there an adapter of some sort?
-
No you need to either connect the optical to a 5.1dolby digital reciever. Or B: connect to speaker that have an optical input. thats the only way. No rcas would be used.

Take your pick -
hmmm. interesting. But are these any good? how is the sound quality?
The Creative one looks pretty good. -
I read some reviews of Turtle sound card and it seems to be really good alternative to Audigy2. Of course not as good as Creative one, but remember about price diffrence between them.
-
SO the turtle one is NOT as good as the creative one? But it is more expensive.
I found this at a local retailer:
http://search.ncix.com/displayprodu...TBS-1122-01F&manufacture=TURTLE BEACH SYSTEMS
It has optical IN/OUT. So if I use the optical OUT from the Asus, the sound quality should be better than USB? -
I was comparing Audigy2 and this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16829118107 or this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16829118001. Sorry for mistake.

Anyone know any adapter can covert from express card to PCMCIA, express card slot device seems not to be common in the market.
-
There is not such converter. Express Card is new standard and as all new ports - there is lack of accesories on it. That sucks, I really miss my Audigy2
-
THe audigy2 will prob sound the best. But remember the sound is only as good as your speakers. I see so many people buy top of the line soundcard and then 30 dollar speakers. So if you have cheap speakers the 19.99 dollar one will prob be fine.

Will the Audigy 2 ZS PCMCIA fit into the PCI-E of the A8Jm?
