I am looking for a new laptop for my partner. He was due for an upgrade 2 years ago... but anyway, he was looking to upgrade to the Core2Duo and I recommended the V6 series.
But, I just noticed that the V6J is a Core Duo processor T2300. Thus my question, is ASUs coming out with the Core2Duo refresh for the V6 series??

Sorry no, the V6 series has been discontinued.
There are a few other laptops that your partner may want to consider, the W3J, A8js, V1JP, G1, and in the future the V2 (14").
It would be nice to fill out the FAQ for your partner, to get an understanding of what your partner is looking for.
Other than that the above mentioned laptops are most likely the one for your partner. -
In fact I called your office last friday (Markham location) and spoke with a nice guy with a heavy asian accent. I inquiry about the V1J and the V6J, he told me that you did not have the V6J but it will becoming this week (at least that is what I understood). I know the V6 series very well, and that is the main reason I was recommending that one. The V1J seems to be a very good option too.
Danny, can you confirm if you will still be getting the V6J ??

edit: Sorry forgot to add... W3J: too small, G1: too much - he doesn't need all that power, V2: too small, A8: Ok, but rather go for the V6 or V1 -

Hehe yah I kinda figured you know what your partner wanted
It wouldn't hurt to call every now and then to make sure we get some V6J in stock. I also like the V6 series myself, I wish they continued with it since it is something rather different when you look at the market today which is all about widescreen. I am an advocate for widescreen laptops but 15" notebooks are still very portable, light weight and offer good screen real-estate.
Or you can also send email's directly, and Danny will be able to answer them for you. (Regarding the availability of the V6J) -

Whats up C6?!
Just some useless rambling, I'm also quite saddened at the V6's discontinuation, it was one of the trademark models I found to be very respectable. I would think the standard screen aspect proved to be downfall(If you can call it that) -

Not only that, but high price/cost, that would also contribute to the discontinuation of this laptop. It is one of the finest laptops out there. Top notch build quality, good battery life, decent performance and an all round good looking laptop.

Yeah, everyone goes for widescreen now but I honestly like a 4:3 screen better.
The V6 makes a hell of a good job of getting you the maximum possible screen surface in a small, light package. It has a very good screen+keyboard+palm surface/ weight+physical size ratio. That's why I love it and I don't think I'll part with it even though the V6Js also suffer from battery problems, like the V1s (although I wouldn't say 'everyone' mentioned battery problems with the V1s; I've seen 3-4 users doing that only, less than for the V6). -
I hate the way ASUS killed the V6 series x_x

(No, not the W3 either, not the Vx*, not the V1, not the V2, not the G*)

I remember they released a bios for the v6j with core 2 duo support and then it was suddently removed from Asus website.
There maybe a few people who have this bios upgrade.

So long as we take lots of spare batteries first. I will order us those "walk on water" shoes, and we will leave!

We'll use the DELL batteries as WMD xD

That's just wrong - using Dell to destroy Asus. I feel dirty.

I also take some of it with a grain of salt. When the M6BNe came out they were lots of complaints about heat issues. But by the time I got mine, it was nothing that a bios upgrade couldn't fix. I love my M6BNe, the only other love affair I have is the V6.. -

I personally think the battery wear is nothing that a BIOS upgrade won't fix, either... but a terribly "expensive", "difficult", and "lengthy" operation is needed... one guy at ASUS needs to sit down and find a bug, then change 6 lines of code.... one days' work, at most, I'd say -
Soulmates indeed...
Too bad you are too far away...

Will there be a Core2Duo on the V6 series??
