    Hi,

Im looking at buying an N53 (Asus N53JQ-SX252V).

I was wondering if anyone was familiar enough with Asus's release cycles to know if a model was being released with a Sandy Bridge processor in early January?

If ones being released then I'll wait else I'll just grab the JQ.

    Thanks.

    TJ

I don't knw if it would be on the N53 series but definitely there will be an ASUS with Sandy Bridge very soon. Historically speaking, ASUS is one of the companies that follows the new tech very closely. I am expecting them to announce at least one model in each of the 14, 15, 17-18" segments in Jan.

I don't think there are any new models in january - there aren't many manufacturers that release new models shortly after the new chips are announced. Likely, being an N series as well, they'll want to stick with the dual core sandy bridge chips (or the 'low' end quads) and it's not a flagship notebook ... so the chances of it being refreshed that early are low.

But, as with each chip generation, it'll be refreshed eventually.

The N73SV w/sandy bridge is availble in some European markets now, maybe in the states sometime during Q1 of '11 or so i've heard.

Asus N53SV is an unknown laptop from Asus that is on the service area of the website.

Good guess is since the known Asus N73SV is a Sandy Bridge laptop and Asus has not used this "SV" designation before, the Asu N53SV is a Sandy Bridge laptop. I do not know the ETA on it.

Thanks nicksti - I did a quick google on N53SV and it looks like it has a sandy bridge processor, no release date yet and it took Asus ages to release the n53... I might just grab the JQ.

    Cheers.

I spoke to a reseller here in Belgium a couple of weeks back. They said that they've stopped receiving stock for the N73JQ as it is to be replaced soon by a new model. I'm guessing its the N73SV.

FYI, I was at an ASUS store today looking for a N43JM and as the guy looked for it in his computer I glanced over and saw that there is a new model of the N43 with a SB core i7 and a Nvidia 525M, so that should be coming out soonish. Since the N73SV is also coming out, it seems likely that the N53 will be refreshed soon as well.
