I've only had "hands on" experience with my W3J, not the W3V or any older W3 models, but looking at the photos, it appears as though the touchpad cut away will not fit, as the photos show the old style touchpad which would leave you to assume that this cover may not have been updated for the W3J's redesigned touchpad, this is however speculatory, and the photo's may not be entirely accurate. Your best bet might be to ask the seller for clarification.

I hope that makes some kind of sense :)

actually I think it will fit.. here are three pictures of the W3J, W3V and the W3 (watever that is) respectively and you'll see that the touchpad is in the same place in all 3 models

I believe those are all pics of the W3j...just demo to production.

Check the dimensions - they shouldn't have changed...and you should be fine.

Honestly though, I'd save your money. As long as you're reasonably careful with it, the brushed aluminum is pretty durable. I've had mine since launch, and it's still flawless.

The palm rests are incredibly comfortable and a high grade material. It'd be a shame to cover it up.

I'm running with this, but I wonder if that would impact heat dissipation...etc?

I got the pictures from different reviews of each laptop so I doubt they would all be the W3J, although they look pretty much the same so I guess they do keep a whole series identical

Well this isn't too much for durability. I like the idea of now having fingerprints on the brushed aluminum as that is a common occurance and I just really like the shiney gloss it gives off, makes it look so sleek. And I mean I'm coughing up $2000+ CAD for this laptop, I don't think $30 would be too much right now lol

And seeing how thin the layer of film is I doubt it would create any problems with heat dissipation as I don't think the laptop would breathe through the palm rests and such.. but that is a good point

... No, actually the bottom two are W2v (the x600 label and old centrino label) set those two off. Also, the little line on the side of the touchpad which is for scrolling wasn't on the old W3n, I don't believe..... so those are just both old... but for the point of this argument, anything that fits any W3, will fit all W3's....... with the exception of the newest batteries. Those are physically the same, the hooks are just in different positions on the body.

You could also just spend $6 on a cleaning solution/soft rag combo.

Plus you'll be basically covering your brushed aluminum in plastic...?

    Anyway, to each their own.

... Listen, I knew a guy who would buy something and never remove the stickers or covers...... He was a stereotypical cheap _____ (fill in the blank with honestly any term that works).... but when you keep feature sticker on a computer palmrest........ or on the back of a kitchen phone...... or in your car...... you're tacky.

.... Let me tell you what happens after 2-3-4 years........ When the stickers finally started to wear away because of sweat and pressure.... he took them off. The palmrests were faded except in that one area which looked like new.... then the laptop looked that crap, but it looked like crap with a ratty old sticker on it as well.... Same thing went with the phone. The sticker got all sticky and gross.

Then you've got those who leave window stickers in their car and airbag stickers and thing on...... Can you believe, even leaving the paper mats on the floor that the dealership uses for service? Yes... T A C K Y ! All in the hopes that in 3-4 years, the car will be worth more because they left all the crap on it... it'll look like hell by then, but it'll still be there. In my opinion, that ruins the experience of owning it, because you never clean something up and unpack it to make it your own.

I honestly think this situation is similiar. My outlook would be to impress people by the notebook itself and take care of it. Eventually (after a year or two), you'll start to put some wear on parts like the palmrest and obviously the keyboard, but those pieces can be replaced...... I mean, invest in the extra parts and have some totally new parts when you need them instead of covering up all that is great about the system.
