I have a R500vm-ms71 or I think better known as the K55VM, the screen resolution is pretty bad, if i use an extearnel monitor will that impact performance? Will i take a hit on FPS by going to a much bigger extearnel monitor with a much better resolution?

Yes, fps will take a hit at higher resolutions, how much will depend on the resolution of course.

..depends
If you're running a desktop and mirroring the output, most graphics cards nowadays will do that "for free" in terms of 3d performance. Even if the second output is scaled, etc.
If you have a separate output.. generating two desktops, or having a larger framebuffer for an extended virtual screen, that kind of thing, it could cause some performance hit. Don't know how it's solved in Windows w/nvidia. But if you run compiz, for example, you need to create and render a second display, or a larger single screen. ..like creating 3d effects in games. Really rendering two separate screens at the same time.
(Probably shouldn't notice on playing video, even with hardware acceleration. Have seen some codec issues with an extended desktop, but usually works perfectly fine, because you're likely very far away the pain threshold. But you could get strange bandwidth things happening that could drop the 3d performance on a dual screen setup).
..that was a lot of chat to say very little, wasn't it.. sorry..
Will using an extearnel monitor impact performance?
