Hi,
I have been searching for a laptop for the last month. I found this thread and I knew from it many new laptop companies that I have never heard before. Asus is one of them![]()
Now I want to ask you guys from your personal experience with Asus that if you are going to buy an Asus and suppose it does not come with any warranty, Will you buy it? I mean is it that reliable that you don't need a warranty? Or you will look for another brand because Asus laptops are not that reliable and it cannot live without warranty?![]()
Or is it reliable like Dell and toshiba (famous in my country) but because electonics can fail anytime you care about the warranty just for a peace of mind.
I am posing this question to you because I am going to buy a laptop overseas. There is no support centre in my country. So I have to live without warranty. And Asus laptops are not popular in my country. So I do not know anything about them. I have heard many threads in this forum about the reliability of Asus laptops but most of them speak of customer service.
Just to let you know that the laptop which I am going to buy is the g50vt. Probably the g50vt-x5 or g50vt-x1.
Waiting to listen from you guys who are having experience with Asus.![]()

I have been reading for the last three days in this forum. I was not getting into anywhere. So I thought to start this thread with the poll to know of peoples experience with Asus. And it can also help the people like me.
As I noted before this company is not famous in my country and there is no support centre
I saw many people speak about Asus customer Service and how bad or good it is.
People mostly do not care what brand they buy if it comes with a warranty. But what about my case. I cannot get the warranty. I am a bit afraid to buy the g50vt.
Ok the first question that comes in my mind is " How long does Asus laptops last in general? I mean does they last as long as the Dells and Toshiba laptops?"
And sorry if there was no need of this thread -
That is relative. Mine broke 2 days after it came. Others, with the same model have had it for a year without breaking.
Asus Holland and Asus United Kingdom are rubbish when it comes to fixing it. At the end of the day, its the luck of the draw. -
lol
But like dell and toshiba
What I know is that Lenovo is one of the best manufacturer in terms of quality
But their prices are relatively high
No comparison with the prices of Asus -
Another question....
I heard that Asus offers global warranty.
Do Bestbuy offer global warranty? If not then from where I can get a global warranty?
Because I saw that there is a support centre in a neighbouring country
So if something happens to my laptop I can take it to them
Although it will take 6-8 hours to reach but it is worth it -
As seemingly all the polls around here, this one is a bit iffy.
If a buyer appreciates a good warranty as a significant incentive to buy, it doesn't necessarily mean that he expects the product to be unreliable or fail. Which your poll implies.
Now to the questions. ASUS warranty is quite good and is I think a major selling point for ASUS notebooks. And no, BestBuy warranty is NOT international, it is BestBuy only. If you wish the ASUS warranty buy from a reseller (like those in the Info Booth, for instance).
Yes, ASUS laptops do have problems, as all brands of laptops have problems. Many of these problems are annoying without being something that can necessarily be fixed from warranty; e.g., they tend to have issues that require BIOS or driver fixes (e.g., keyboard lag), but which ASUS many times doesn't manage (or wish) to fix. I would not call ASUS laptops in general unreliable. Many models in the past have been very reliable. But currently popular model are relatively recent, and therefore their reliability has not been verified yet (simply because they are not old enough to start failing if they are not reliable). This is also the case for the G50, I have not seen major problems with it, but it does have problems of the type I mentioned above -- BIOS and driver-caused. See its owner lounge for more details.
One example of ASUS laptop that is unreliable is the G1S, which due to poor cooling and the nVidia "bad bumps" problems has lots of failing GPUs.
One example that is highly reliable is the F8 series. -
No way Josaaaaaay! WArranty is a must wether buying a car, or a small child!

Really helped a lot
And sorry for the iffy poll
I think I will buy from bestbuy and when something serious happens to my laptop I will ship it to them
Not sure about this but I think they accept to repair shipped items because they sell their products online -
Ive had great luck with Asus, Id purchase with no warranty
Will you buy Asus if there is no warranty?!!!
