    Hello all,

I installed Windows XP SP 2 on my Asus F3SC laptop.
I installed the 32-bit XP drivers from the downloads section of asus.com site.

I encounter now some problems :
When I press for example my favourite shortcut windows key+E to open the windows explorerer, the explorer only appears after 20 seconds to 2 minutes of waiting. Also the bottom bar (e.g. start menu, icons on the right, ...) is completely idle for that time.

I thus re-formatted my laptop with a friend's Windows XP SP2, and I have again the same problem.

Also when I click in the start menu/Control Panel I may see the same problem.
If I click on a shortcut like "My Computer" or any shortcut on my desktop, the windows explorer launches very fastly.

When it gets idle, I checked the task manager, no process is taking CPU.
It's a clean install. Got on internet to download firefox and that's it, no spyware, malware, etc.
In the Device Manager, the only device marked with a '?' quotation mark is the Fingerprint Sensor.

I am hopeless now, and I hope any kind soul can help me here ...
Any idea of what I can try to do ?

    Thank you,
    Matthew

PS: I had a windows XP already installed before, I didn't encounter this problem. The screen broke down, sent it to Asus for repair.

Desktop icons are just simple files - when you open Windows Explorer, not only is it accessing all of the folders on your main drive, it accesses anything connected to your system. If you have any external drives, try disconnecting them first.

If you're just dealing with a single internal HD, or dual internal HD's, then you should bring up your system's error and event logs to give you and indication of what the problem is.

You can also either post a question or research the problem further at the XP Experts Forum at Microsoft: http://tinyurl.com/a2teeb

    Thank you for your reply.
There is absolutely nothing connected to my computer.
How can I access the logs you are talking about ?
    Thank you.

I had a similar problem with my G50VT-A2 and after constant reinstalling the OS (tried Vista64 and Vista32), I finally diagnosed the problem to the gaming mouse that shipped with the system. I suspect it was the mouse driver that was causing the problem. I switched to a regular Microsoft Optical mouse (usb) and the problem went away

    Thanks

I finally found out the problem ...
It was due to a program provided by Asus: Wireless Console - wcourier.exe
However, I had this program before installed (before sending it for repair to Asus) and never had an issue with this.
    Anyway, thank you.
