Can I reinstall the OS (Win 10), in case of failure, by selecting from the BIOS, the optical or thumb drive
to boot from? Some laptops do not provide this necessary feature. I am thinking of buying an Asus ROG GL752VW-DH71 and would like to know if it gives the USB and Optical drive option to boot from
when an SSD drive is the boot drive in UEFI?

@pepegot1 - Yes, the GL752VW allows booting from an optical or USB flash drive, as well as booting from a network connection. Just about all modern computers allow you to do this. You may need to disable Secure Boot in the BIOS to boot from anything other than the primary storage drive (while using UEFI).

There will be a "Boot Override" feature inside the BIOS on the last tab that will list off any bootable devices. If you have it configured for both UEFI and Legacy, it will list all options. However, if you boot Legacy with Secure Boot enabled, it will prompt you to press a key to continue boot. Windows 7 can be installed in a GPT style partition, but to prevent EFI hardware issues with the OS, you'll most definitely want secure boot disabled.
