I have update most drives, but for some reason when I try to use the brightness hotkey, it doesn't work and causes my other fn hotkeys to stop working.

I haven't had this problem after upgrading to Win 8 from Win 7 and from a Win 8 clean install. Did you install "ATKACPI driver and hotkey-related utilities"?

my fn keys are working either after upgrading to windows 8. I've tried .22 and .23 version of ATKacpi from asus website, but nothing helps.

Yeah I have installed all the drivers. Munim, if you increase your brightness FN key to max, does it work after that? For me, they all work except if I start increasing the brightness hotkey, then after a certain level, all the hotkeys stop working. Very weird..

For brightness control issue, you need the latest BIOS to be installed first. You will need to uninstall the ATK Package if it is not version 1.0.0024.

For Fn+F2 hotkey issue, install ATK 1.0.0024 and ASUS Wireless Radio Control for it to work.
*** Go support.asus.com, click DOWNLOAD, search "ATKPackage" for ATK, Version 1.0.0024.
*** Go support.asus.com, click DOWNLOAD, search "ASUS Wireless Radio Control" for the program, version 1.0.0.1

How do we go about installing these new drivers?

I checked the UX32A drivers for Windows 8 64 bit today. I downloaded them, clicked the setup, I did 2 simultaneously, but both stopped in progress at about 70% and when I click cancel, it refuses to close.

It says uninstall the old drivers then install the new ones. But how exactly do we determine which are the old ones? I go into Device Manager, which driver is it from here? There are at least 5 that sound similar (ie. for USB 3.0), and I don't want to uninstall the wrong one.

For the ATK package, I tried uninstalling it from Programs/Features and it stopped its progress on uninstall, and when I click cancel, same thing, and refuses to close.

On top of everything, the ASUS Update Utility does not and never picks up ANY updates!

What the heck is going on??

If you are talking about the Fn+F2 hotkey and ATK, then...

Update the BIOS to the latest.
Remove current ATK (regardless of version), just remove it. Restart.
Install ATK (1.0.0024) downloaded from ASUS site. Restart.
Install ASUS Wireless Radio Control (1.0.0.1) downloaded from ASUS site. Restart.
Your F2+Fn key should light up after Win8 finish loading.

RE: Asus Update Utility: I found it not too reliable. If you are aiming for the latest drivers, I always use the search function inside support.asus.com. Anyways, both drivers version mentioned above should get your fn function hotkey fully working again.

I did that, now I get 'Airplane Mode on/off' with the wifi button. Nothing shows for the keyboard brightness but it works. The volume/screen brightness show as a small meter on the top left, which is windows 8 default I think
