I am using Asus z63a with IntelProset 9.0.1.0.

Evertime if I close the laptop to put it on sleep, after a few hours, when I open the laptop, the wireless internet connection won't come back, it always says Limited Connection when I manually connect it through Proset. And I have to restart the computer to get the wireless connection work again.

Could anyone please let me know if there is anything I could do to make it work?

    Thanks!

Can you tell more about the wireless router? Have you tried reseting it, or looking into settings. Have you tried something similar with a different computer and your wireless network. This isn't super surprising to me, but I would think it should pick a connection back up. Does it only do this on your network, or can you replicate this on any network?

I often have a similar problem, although I dont have to restart the computer to get it back up - I can just right click on the wireless icon in the task bar, and choose 'repair', and often that will fix it. On the rare occasions when it doesn't, then restarting helps, and if not that, then resetting the modem will finally work. But it's a lot of faff. It's not consistent, either - sometimes it works perfectly after being asleep, and sometimes not.

I find that it helps to put it into sleep/hibernation when it is plugged into the mains, and to make sure to plug it back into the mains before waking it up; the lack of connection problem is much more likely to occur when it's put to sleep or woken up in battery mode.

Also, it tends to be worse if there is some programme that tries to access the internet whilst the wireless is trying to establish a connection; if it can finish establishing the connection first, then it's OK. So I tend to make sure that my email (which checks automatically) is closed when I wake it up, so that it doesn't try to check before the connection is there.

I just found it yesterday that if I try Proset several times, like three times, it could connect with no problem. So maybe it is some program trying to access before connection is established?

I am using dlink wireless router.

When I close my z63 and put it in standby, the notebook disengages the wireless connection and turns it off; I expect this happens with other systems, too, but don't have any other notebooks to confirm. I figured this out by looking at the wireless icon on wakeup and saw that it was off (isn't green or yellow) and not showing the connection that was there a moment ago.

To fix the connection, you should be able to simply push the hotkey for the wireless on the right side after wakeup (this works for me) - it restarts the wireless LAN like you did a reboot, and then you should be good to go. I don't know any other way around this, so I've just resolved to have to remember hitting the hotkey after I wake it out of standy/hibernate to get my wireless back.

Thank you for sharing the hotkey tip. It certainly sounds easier than right click on Proset, then reconnect for three times. Great! I will try it out today.
