it's handy if you cycle through wifi + BT, but it's not entirely critical. depends on your needs and on what notebook you have. the G71G has a physical switch on the right side that enables/disables wifi + BT.

i have Wireless Console installed (or as ASUS calls it now, "Wireless Console 2") installed, as there are instances when i won't need wifi, but will need BT, and vice versa.

G50 series also features this hardware switch however, it activates or deactivates both bluetooth or WiFi.

I don't think the installation of the wireless console is absolutely necessary. IE: You can still use both wireless devices when the feature is uninstalled however turning on those devices in the OS is a little harder is all.

Interesting. I've got an n80, and all I installed was that ATKey thing. That gave me control of the hardware bluetooth and wifi buttons up at the top. The other three buttons do nothing, but I'm not sure I need them for anything. I can still even toggle through Bluetooth and wifi using function F2 (without installing that Wireless Console Utility), though why I'd want to when I have hardware buttons I don't know.

At least I know I don't need this wireless console utility!

I guess I'm going to install Asus' audio drivers, to see if I can get my audio booster louder (though whatever Windows installs sounds nice).
