I just got and assembled my Asus z33ae and I'm having –HUGE- problems getting the wireless network adaptor (Intel® PRO/Wireless 2915ABG) to even connect to my wireless router.

It will find the network but it just won’t connect 95% of the time. If it does connect it’s only for about 1-4 minuets before the connection is dropped and it doesn’t appear to notice the connection is dropped.

These are the steps that I have taken to try and solve the problem. If anyone has some new or different ideas I would really appreciate it because I'm at my wits end and if I can’t fix the laptop by Sunday I’m sending it back!

    • Upgraded to newest Intel PROSet/Wireless software and drivers.
    • Changed my router to function on B band instead of G I have read that the Intel cards have problems connecting to G band.
    • Turned off all security on my wireless router.
    • Turned off Power save Polling (power management: highest, transmit power: highest).
    • Updated my routers firmware to the newest version (I have a Linksys WRT54G, there is another laptop in the house that uses this router and has for months, with no problems it's an Acer Aspire).
    • Tried working with the Wireless Zero configuration (default windows wireless client) instead of the software supplied by Intel.

I have had wireless issues with certain routers. i had an atheros card that would connect to everything but one router and i even had two of the exact same router. never figured out why. just bought a different router gave the other to a friend and it worked. sometimes it just dont work. if it works with other routers and you keep trying and it wont connec to yours. then get a new router. try diabling encryption i bet it will work.

    Tried that :(

I'm going to take the laptop over to my buddies place tonight, and try it on his router. But really I need a reliable connection since I'm going to be traveling around a lot with this laptop

z33 never had any inherent issues with this and i ve seen maybee a few tops faulty network cards. Trying it outside with another router is a very wise choice :)

I would try pushing in the reset button on the router for a while, or unplugging it and leaving it unplugged for a while. At my friends house, his X-Box on wireless will just cut out, if you just go uplug the router for 5 seconds and plug it back in, everything works, happens about every three weeks, try that.

Don't return the whole notebook if it's a good one, just get the wireless card replaced.

Makre sure all settings are optimal in your router settings and be sure you're not on the same channel as someone near you if you're in a high wireless traffic area.

Did this recently happen or was this problem always there?
