A few months ago, I purchased a M50VM-A1 from XoticPC.

I was using a Linksys wireless router WRT54G with no problems. I just recently switched to a wireless N router Dlink DIR-625. The Asus works with this router in mixed N & G mode, but I can never get my connection speed more than 54mps. When I switch the router to broadcast in N only, My laptop wont even link up to it. Network adaptor is the Atheros AR928x. Drivers are 7.6.0.96.

Also, when I tested my download speeds on Speedtest.net, I could never get higher than 5mps on the Dlink where as my WRT54g just tested at 18mps?

Anyone else have this problem or any advice on how to fix it.

    Thanks

Hi Joe, and welcome to the forums :)
It sounds like a router issue to me, but just for kicks, have you tired newer drivers for your Atheros card and maybe even install a new firmware for your router?

I updated the router firmware, but could not find updated drivers for the card.
I checked the ASus site as well at the Atheros one and couldn't find any. Any idea on the drivers for this card? I'm hesitant to use 3rd part drivers of any kind.

As far as the router goes, I'm not happy with it, so I'm returning it for something else. We'll see if that does th trick. Thanks

Encrypt needs to be WPA-PSK with AES for N to work.
