    Hey people,

Is it essential to use the intel wireless program that comes with centrino in order to use the wireless in the W3V? (ie the intel proset thing)

I want to delete it to make optimise the performance of my computer, but the only problem is, that when i delete it, the wireless shortcut key on the right hand side of the laptop no longer turns the wireless card on...

Is there any way i can just use the windows wireless system and discard the intel one on the W3V.

    If so how?

    Thanks for any advice
    Adrian.

You can disable icons (programs running in systray) by going to START-RUN-and type in MSCONFIG and hit ENTER. Goto STARTUP tab and uncheck that particular program. Next time you reboot, no program. If you want it back, just simply go back and check it back on. Hope this helps.

Yes you can delete the intel wireless, I use the inbuilt windows too, much simpler than the intel, and the wireless on/off button still works, but I havent deleted the intel software. Not sure if deletion will effect this or not. On the otherside, how much increase in performance do you epect to see from removing this program???? I really think that your wasting your time... like teflonman said use msconfig to disable as many programs as safely possible on startup....you'll free up memory heaps quicker that way
