Can someone provide me with info listing those Asus notebooks that have Centrino 2 processors?
I am interested in the M50 series (I think?) so do those have Centrino 2?
How do the Asus notebooks compare with Thinkpads and Dells?
I was mostly considering business machines but I saw an Asus in a local computer store (forget which model) and I was impressed.
I suppose the look and specs/hardware of these machines are more comparable to the HP DV5/4 series but I will only consider notebooks that are Centrino 2.

Centrino 2 aren't processors, it refers to the whole setup (Intel chipset, Intel wireless, Intel CPU, etc.) You probably mean Core 2 for CPU. Go to www.asus.com to check out their list of notebooks based on screen size and model line.
If you are looking at business machines, then you are comparing the wrong notebook lines. Dell Latitude/Precision, Lenovo T/W series, and HP Elitebooks are IMO the best business notebooks for mainstream users. The consumer lines such as the HP dv series and Asus lines are much poorer in terms of build quality and general ruggedness. -
Centrino 2 doesn't only refer to the processor. Basically, in order to have a notebooks with the "Centrino 2" name, you need an Intel C2D processor, an Intel wifi card, and an Intel chipset.
The M50 series notebooks are actually EOL and have been replaced by the N50 series. AFAIK, all the N50 series are considered "Centrino 2"
Take a look at the link below:

In comparison to other business-class notebooks, the "consumer-class" M50 and N50 series will not be as sturdy, but compared to other notebooks in it's class, both the M50 and N50 are well above average in terms of build quality. -
Well, I am aware of the Intel cpu and wifi card which is what I want my notebook to have.
I thought the Asus in the store I went to looked good although it wasn't on! lol!
I just remembered that a lot of the Asus notebooks were Core 2 Duo but were not with Montevina processors. I think most of the Asus notebook prices were okay but not if they are the older technology (non-Montevina). I want something that doesn't produce too much heat.
I was comparing to the Thinkpads/Dells because I don't know if I should go with those or something else. Those are quite expensive while the Asus ones have various configurations at various prices.
However, I want a notebook that is going to last and stand up well so I kinda do want the ruggedness and quality. -
IIRC, most of the N80's and N50's come with Montevina CPUs.
Here you go. -
Not to split too many hairs, but Montevina and Santa Rosa are codenames for the Centrino platforms. The CPUs for these platforms are codenamed Penryn and Merom, respectively.
-
If you are primarily looking for a cooler-running processor, just look for a notebook with a Core 2 Duo processor starting with the letter "P"
-
If all you are doing is work and heat is a concern, you should go for a system with integrated graphics, or a really wimpy discrete GPU.

Is this (considered) a good machine?
ASUS N50 Series N50Vn-B1B
If I didn't go for a business line (e.g. Thinkpad T400/T500 or Latitude E6400), I'd go for that Asus. It seems to be way better configured than a comparable HP dvX series.
With Centrino 2?
