Hey guys got a couple of questions:
I'm planning on getting ASUS G Series G51VX-X2A Intel Core 2 Duo T9600(2.80GHz) 15.6" 4GB Memory 320GB HDD DVD Super Multi NVIDIA GeForce GTX 260M ... - Retail From Newegg
Will I be able to run everything on MAX settings aside from AA, I'll leave that on default which is x1 AA.
I currently have an ASUS G Series G50 from Best Buy with 9800GS nVidia card and it runs everything on MAX no problem.
The resolution on the G51 is much higher then the G50 from BB. Should have affect greatly on my performance?
It's an GTX 260M though with 1GB on memory, so I assume it should be able to handle WoW no problem.
Will the G51 run hotter or about the same as my G50?
Thanks in advance

It'll run WoW maxed out including AA with no problems. It will run hotter than the G50.

I play WoW and have the same computer and you can run it at native res on ultra settings with 6ofps out in the world around 35fps in dalaran

I don't know if Guild Wars is more CPU intensive, but they have a little counter that gives you the FPS and ping when you mouse over it. I think it taps out at 60 (a friend of mine running SLI 9800GTXs and some quad OC'd to 3.06GHz hit that and it won't tick over, even if the settings are lowered), and 60 FPS is what I hit, everything maxed out.

Thanks for the helpful posts guys

Does the X2A run really hot?
When you play WoW your run with only 1x AA right?
The frames you get seems to be great.
What about 25man raids with MAX settings, still about 50-60 FPS? -
If you like WoW you should try Aion, not trying to bash or anything, but since you're getting a new laptop and all this game handles great on a 1920x1080 screen around 60-100fps on my laptop.

Hey guys I'm wondering if you guys set your laptops up different from mine. I have the G51 from newegg with the 2.53 p8700 instead and i'm only gettin 15 FPS in dal and 20-30 FPS in raids. In certain enviornments (of if i turn shadows on low) I can get 50-60 FPS
I installed the Dox 185.85 drivers (though it makes my purples come out as really magenta) and I'm wondering if I'm doing something wrong. The laptop is set on high performance mode. Should it be on entertainment mode?
I'm also wondering if the laptop comes underclocked -
everything on max, WITHOUT shadows, wow shadows blow. i run everything on max on my g71 gx with the processor not overclocked, which is slower than urs, and yours is better than that.

Well I have the 2.8 processor and ultra high native res worked fine but keeping it at those settings would have been nice to look at, but hard to play with. So i knocked it out of native res and i dropped the shadows and i get 60fps everywhere including dalaran. (all with the standard drivers it came with)
I would say put it at a lower res and definitely drop shadows. Other then that i would say put a couple of things you don't really care about at like 70% and see if that works for you. -
dude, ive noticed on my g1 with a 2.0 core 2, and my g71 gx with the 2.53 core 2, that changing your resolution on WOW will do absolutely nothing for the frame rate. play it at your native res....

does anyone think aion will last i dont want to get involved in a game that will just die like Tabula Rasa. uggh i really liked that game

not to change topics, but i think it'll fair a little better than warhammer online, which isnt doing too hot, but now has an established population of players. if you do play, make a wise server choice. I think aions a great game, i played the chinese open beta for a while and it was very fun. doesnt have the longevity of wow imo tho.
