Greetings everyone!
While waiting for that sweet Z70Va to reach my door, I've been wondering about it's widescreen resolution compared to games...
More specifically, I read that some games doesnt support widescreen and this created black bands on the sides of the screen.
My question is, does World of Warcraft supports widescreen resolutions? I beleive it does (I think I read that somewhere on the forums) but can someone confirm it for me please?
In the same order of ideas, I wonder what other games do support widescreens? I beleive that some newer games such as quake 4 or ages of empires III might do, but I hope that Unreal Tournament 2004 and Need For Speed Most Wanted do too... anyone have any idea about those games?
Lastly, is there some list on a website where I can look and see if particular games support widescreen or not?
Thanks everyone, you help will be as always greatly appreciated!

Yep, WoW support 1600x1050. My gf has it run on her and it looks so beautiful; makes me want to get a second one. The only time when u'll see the black tab on the sides is when the screen is loading, other than that you'll get real widescreen (no stretch with extra fat dwarf).

My is coming thru the mail too tomorrow and yet I want another one!

I don't get it, I haven't had any games display the black bars on the sides. Don't games that run in fullscreen mode with normal aspect 4:3 resolutions just stretch the image???

Many thanks, knowing that the game I currently play supports widescreen is very good!
Too bad the lappy isnt there yet... soon very soon it will be! -
Congratulations on your wise choice!
As has been said, WoW supports the native resolution of 1680x1050. I've been running it on mine with the 4x multisample, and it's beautiful.
I have had it on 40-man raids where I did set the multisample down to 1x, such as in Molten Core to take down Ragnaros, but I was happy with the performance leaving it at 1680x1050 on the default settings.

Wow Mycroft that's pretty impressive to know it handles WOW in native res'. I didn't know it could handle it at that resolution as I don't play that game.
Good to know, must look awesome.

Not enought money for two machines.
Also, i recommend you use the native res for the game because it gives you sharp and clear pictures. My friends keep asking me where i got the laptop from. -
those are vey good news indeed!
Special thanks for Mycroft, that link you provided is exactly what I was looking for, a comprehensive list of games supporting widescreen, and it even tells you how it is supported !
I'm so looking forward for that laptop, and WoW in native resolution will be very great I am sure !
