First of all, the laptop I got has a little scratch on the screen when I received it(very minor you can see it only when you put a lamp beside it). Second, there is a stuck white pixel that would stay bright and not change colours. However you can only see it when the screen is all black. Finally, I notice the speakers are kinda buzzing when I am watching a video that has high pitched sound. Only certain videos have it (especially Youtube videos) but when I plug in my external speakers or headset, the buzzing disappears. Therefore, I suspect the laptop speakers are probably blown out. I downloaded all the updated drivers and the problem is still occuring. Also, this may be considered a defect- The 2 of out of 3 input jacks (line in, and microphone jack) are really stiff. When I try to plug in a device, I would have to put in quite a bit of effort in plugging it in and pulling it out.

As you can see, that's quite a lot of things wrong with it. Those problems may be seem minor but I am very picky considering I paid over $1700 Cnd for this laptop. Do you think ASUS will send me a brand new one instead of a repaired one?

    1) That little scratch is nothing...
    2) Stuck pixel is not enough to justify sending it in.
    3) The high pitched sound is probably because the speakers are weak, not faulty.

Chances are they'll just send yours back to you without "fixing" any of your "problems", but all that shipping around would cost you a few more scratches on your laptop.

If you were eligible for their 1 year replacement warranty or 30 day LCD replacement, then yes. If not, they will do nothing. I understand it is an investment and not cheap, but since the laptop has issues classified as 'cosmetic' they will merely run a diagnostic and send it back. If the buzzing becomes more pronounced, then you might be game for a new speaker setup/board change. Be happy you have tight ports. Over time they will loosen up and cause issues. The tighter the better if you will be constantly connecting. I hate to be the bearer of unhappy news, but at this point it is not worth your time.

Yeah I didn't really care much about the cosmetics stuff until I noticed that the right speaker is buzzing in certain videos that have high pitched sounds. The left speaker however is less inevitable.

You have also asked about the bright dot on another thread, if I remember correctly -- why post a new thread?

But anyway, you can use the Zero Bright Dot warranty if you are within 30 days of purchase, and send the machine in for screen replacement. Also mention the speaker buzz, who knows, maybe they will address it.

But yes, do consider in advance whether these relatively minor faults are worth the downtime of sending the notebook in.

the ZBO warranty is only if the dots in a certain place on the screen and it does not cover unless its a bright dot, which yours is not as you said it does not show on other colors but black. I went through this with them on one of my G50's.. If it was a bright color showing easy and is in the center of the screen they would but otherwise its hard to get just because one. I know they say ZBD warranty but they sent me the actual terms and a link to them and it has exclusions.

Anyway the speaker are iffy also. If its only "some videos" you better find a bunch as they will just say the level or freq that video is in is what causes the problem.

But to answer your question, if its less than 30 days old ASUS DOES at times exchange for a BRAND NEW notebook. Mine had 1 dead pixel, had BAD keyboard lag and one speaker not as loud as another. They do whats called a DOAR which is Dead on Arival Return and they send you a BRAND new notebook IF they verify and test it to be defective... So if your under 30 days you can go for DOAR exchange... They will NOT cross ship though... But they paid for all shipping and sent me a BRAND NEW one... Only problem I still have now is the keyboard lag. haha

Funny thing is on the replacement I got they put the defect of my old one as "Hard Drive clicking sound" The only reason I really sent mine in was in hopes to get keyboard lag fixed but seems to be a no go other than remove drivers and than it works.

But cant hurt for you to try, just be ready to have no notebook for a week or 2.

This is what it says on the warranty card "Within the 30 day warranty period, even if only one bright dot is found, the ZBD Policy can be applied for a free LCD panel exchange."

Im sorry, but if I got a laptop that had a stuck pixel and a scratch when I receive it I would be pretty choked. If I were you Id email them first, fight to get a new one. The whole point of buying something new is that its new, not tinkered with and that it has no problems or no severe problems to start off with. A stuck pixel in my opinion is a pretty annoying problem as well as a scratch on the screen. Not one of my laptops have ever had a scratch on their screen. I'm a freak and want everything perfect, i take care of my stuff.

Raise hell until they give you a new one or offer to replace it perfectly. Seriously your the customer and you work for your money, get what your paying for.

Sometimes the stuck pixel will go away over tine...it took about a year or so, but a stuck green pixel on my desktop LCD eventually vanished.
