I dont know much about this stuff but like the sound of the ASUS brand, although am not sure which one to go for. Am looking for a home desktop replacement that can handle multimedia software, multitasking, wifi and real time strategy games. My budget is max £1200. Would really appreciate some advice???

The budget is kind of low, however, look for the A6va, should be around that price area.

.... that's in pounds.... that's over $2,100.00 USD... That'll basically get anything you want.

the A6 series is about £600 here. i was trying to decide between a V6V or W3V, or maybe W2V except that was a bit more than I need...

I'm gonna recommend the V6Va - definitely Asus's best all-around system in my opinion.

Ditto - for your needs and your budget --- you're not going to find anything better than the V6va......

... other brands - no --- other models.... not really... for what you want, there isn't a better system..... maybe look at the W3 or W2....

Just curious why no one recommended the Z70Va ?

Is this not a suitable model for a desktop replacement ?

If you would indulge me, what makes the V6Va a better solution than the Z70Va ?

Lighter, better built, similar battery life, nicer looking, Much better screen. its just a high end laptop, I am not trying to put the z70va down at all though its a great laptop as well.

Marie since you're a girl I MUST SUGGEST ONCE AGAIN the W5 or the Z63A or the W3V.

The W5 is sexy, petite, powerful, and has a built in webcam that swivels.

The Z63A is a different coloured W3V without the more powerful videocard, which is all up to you if you need it or not. Both of these are built solid, have a wonderfully bright and vivid screen, comes with a very fashionable bag that is also equally functional. To top it off it comes with a wireless mouse as well, so you can cut those off your to buy list.

I just can't get over the bag that comes with it, TOP NOTCH.

So yes, those are the ones I suggest. The W5 is a 12inch? or 13? I forget, but someone will let us know and the W3V/Z63A are both 14 inchers.

Yes, the V6Va is dead sexy as well, but it's bigger and not as portable. Also I don't think it'll be as appealing to you as the models I've mentioned if you see them in person.

    Cheers,
    Mike

i think the w2v and the v6va are their sexiest models if a pc can be sexy that is. as for the portability the v6v is as light as a z63a they both weigh 5.5 lbs so its not any less portable.

The W2V is overkill for most people.

Hi - thanks for all your advice, i didnt check this for a few days so have just seen the last few posts. i actually ordered the v6va last night & should have it on wednesday.

quite a few of the models mentioned dont seem to be available in the UK (or have different names) so i couldnt check those out. but i like the idea of the V6's bigger screen size compared to the W3 or 5 (i cant really afford a w2). although it is hard to judge because you cant really buy asus in shops here so you have to go with what you can see on the www. i'd like to play games on it (amoung other things) like civ 4, orblivion etc - do you think it will cope with this? so anyway fingers crossed i hope i like it... am happy to post an opinon if anyone is interested!
