    Hey guys,

so my girlfriend was having problems with her pc and asked me to reinstall windows for her. Everything went smoothly until after the installation when I had to start installing the drivers. I've been trying to get the wifi to work but I don't seem to get the "right" driver! Tried three already but none of them seem to make windows recognize the network adapter. It's really frustrating. On Asus' website there are 10 Wireless drivers to download and I've tried two from the list so far. I've also tried to check within Device Manager to see the name of the wireless card but since it's not recognied by windows yet, I can't know exactly which one it is.

She doesn't have the CD that came with the notebook. So is there any sort of driver "pack" for this model? Or at least a list of the drivers needed for the pc to work? How am I supposed to know the right drivers to download? For the GPU and CPU it's quite easy and there's usually only one driver per piece, but for other hardware parts it's tricky to know.

    Can anyone help me out?

Look at the PCI ID under device manager's properties->details window. Then search here for the vendor ID: PCI Vendor and Device Lists

Yea, that's a good idea but the thing is, I'm not really sure what to check on the website you sent me. Sorry, even though I am somewhat familiar with these kind of things, that is quite specific for me.
Under Device Manager I find "Other devices" because since no driver is installed yet, windows doesn't recognize anything. Under "Other Devices" there are 1- Ethernet Controller; 2- Network Controller; 3- PCI Simple Communications Controller and 4- USB2.0-CRW. Which of these should I check if I want to make the wifi work?

Also, inside the details tab, which number do I need to check exactly? Under details I select "Hardware Ids" from the dropdown menu, is that correct? It looks something like this PCI\VEN_10EC&DEV_8168&SUBSYS_12771043&REV_06
I don't really know which number to check and to which number to compare on the website you sent me. Could you give me a hand? That big code I posted was from the Ethernet Controller

The one you pasted in is the ethernet controller which is a realtek 8168. The wifi may be Network Controller. The part that comes after VEN_ up to the & is the vendor id, the part that comes after DEV_ up to the next & is the device id. You should only need the vendor ID to figure out which driver package you need.

Hey guys, thanks for all the help! I managed to install the drivers successfully! Finally! Turned out to be the Azuzere Wireless driver after all. It was trial and error, really.
Those tools ProStar suggested might be quite handy in situations like this....

But anyway, have a good one!
