My fiance has an X83VM-X1 (Best Buy Model), (same as the N80 series), it's upgraded to the latest BIOS (v207).
I just ordered an M17x and have an X9100 for it when it arrives. I purposely ordered the M17x with a T9600, with the hopes of upgrading our X83, and being it was only $200 extra from the base config, I saved about $50 to $75 vs Ebay prices for the T9600.
Here comes the problem: I tested the X9100 in the X83 and.. nothing. Only powers on, blank screen, doesn't do a thing after that. I hope it's just because it doesn't support the chip. But does anyone know this to be the case?
I started to think about power consuption of course, being that the Asus uses a 25W processor vs the 44W one I tried to use, thinking that might be the issue, possibly done intentionally. The I wondered if the X83 will even be able to use the T9600 I bought.
Checking Newegg, I see the newer N81 models using up to the T9600, but a Google search shows no N80 models with anything higher than a P series processor.
Also found this thread here on NBR, but there's no indication that the upgrades were completed...

Anyone familiar with this model at all?
I'm less concerned with the T9600 at this point, I know the chip will be ok, if it doesn't work in the X83 I'll sell it here or on Ebay. I need to make sure that my X9100 isn't bad though...
