I have a few questions regarding a X9100 and a bios flash of the 260M GTX.

    1. When i put the 44W TDP in the G51, will it overheat or raise to dangerously high temps considering the curent high temps?

    2. By how much the bat life will be shortened (about)?

    3. I heard you can OC, the X9100 by changing the mulitplyer, would that be possible in the G51?

When i get the G51 I want to flash the BIOS of the 260M GTX, so that it has stock clocks.

    1.
Where can i download such BIOS?

    2. Is there anywhere a very detaliled guide on how to do that, because i know messing with the BIOS can cause lots of trouble when something goes wrong.

Hope someone can help me with this. :D

    i) given what i read, its very possible
ii) depends on the voltage difference of the lowest(LFM) speed
    iii) yes

    i) no one's made such a bios
ii) there is no written-in-stone method

if you want to make your own, you can start with the latest version of NiBiTor and pray it can read it + mmtool. if it cant read it, pull out your favourite hex editor and search the bios for words equal to the current clockspeeds. theyll be bunched together in what look like "profiles".

    Thx for the answer.

I am planing to buy the Zalman N2000 + change the thermal paste to IC Diamond 7 + undervolt the CPU and do some modifications to the existing cooling. So hopefully it will minimize the temps as much as it is posible for the X9100.
Could it shorten it by as much as 30mins?
I remmember, Clutch was saying something about flashing a BIOS in the 260M GTX, maybe he will know.

If I would have the X9100, where is the muliplayer chnaged, normally in the BIOS?

the multiplier would most likely be changed by a program (RMclock, Crystal CPUID).
i didn't google the voltages, but i doubt itll be more than 5% of battery life (because of speedstep, im sure that higher clocks on the X9100 have a higher volt difference than the LFM, so itll be variable). if it lasts 2 hours now, maybe 1h45m after, 30 mins would be a little high (unless you play games on battery power, which isnt gonna last more than an hour anyway).

if youre looking at cooling mods and dont care about your warranty, consider swapping the fan resistor for a variable one. higher voltage = more rpm = better cooling (= more noise). i have a feeling the only difference the paste will do is just have it warm up slower.

the vbios im assuming is part of the system bios, so you would use mmtool to extract it, change the clocks (nibitor or hex), and replace it. not too hard.

Well, yeh I agree, as the heatsink was mainly designed to transfer a 25W TDP, not a 44W to the fan, but I'm going to chnage it anyway, just to ensure that the maximum possible energy is being transfered to the heatsink (fan)

That sounds like a good idea, coz I dont mind about the noise at all. Can u tell me where can i find this resistor in the laptop, and where could I possibly buy one? (can u gimme a url pls).
In addition to this I thought of adding some smal copper blocks to the GPU + a 40mm fan blowing on in it... something like that.

the paste will do is just have it warm up slower.

those are up to you :)
the only time i tried a fan volt mod was on some old 80mm desktop fan motors, and that didnt end too well.
