    Hi!

    Is it possible to install XP (32 or 64 bit) into this machine? I'm getting a BSOD after the setup loads all the necessary files and when it says "Starting Windows Setup" (something like that) at the bottom of the screen and when the "Republic of Gamers" with the logo on the OLED shows up.

    Is there any trick to get this installation going?

    Thanks!

    Update:

    XP install was smooth, thanks to EBE!

    One more problem, I can't install the driver for the HDMI Audio. And the Card reader driver works, but when I inserted an SD Card that worked in Vista, it doesn't read it anymore.

    You can install it on SATA but the install disks need to be modified as per the link I gave in my 1st post on the thread.

    Additionally you can put the SATA interface in PATA-compatible mode from the BIOS. That removes the need for the drivers.

    I do not believe the SATA version makes a difference, although I may be wrong about this.

    Hey it worked! Thanks again!

    As for the card, I'll just pretend it's not there. LOL!

    for the hdmi audio drivers;
    if you switch to output to hdmi (fn + f8?), is Nvidia HDMI Audio listed in device manager? all nvidia's notebook branch of vga drivers should also have the hdmi audio driver (you could download 186.03, extract with 7zip, and update that way).

    for the sd card, i might be having a similar problem. i've installed two sets of ricoh drivers (one from the disc, one from softpedia), but putting in an sd card says it needs some driver for it.
    any performance tweaks or services disabled?

    @pagedown: if you;re running xp 32, you're missing the UAA thing. http://drivers.softpedia.com/get/SO...AA-Bus-Driver-for-High-Definition-Audio.shtml
    xp pro 64/server 2003 should have it out of the box.

    Nvidia HDMI Audio is not listed in the DM, as seen in the screen shot i provided. When ever i try to install the hdmi drivers, install shield initializes and then closes it self.

    pressing fn+f8 just changes it to lcd, to lcd

    EDIT:

    If i were to try out the 186.03 drivers, would doing a simple uninstall of the old vga drivers and then installing the new be alright?

    @thalanix: installing the uaa did nothing

    installed 186.03 and still not getting any sound! Sound tab under device manager is still not showing any 'realtek high defination audio' and 'NVIDIA HDMI audio'

    I think the answer might lay in these http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?p=3673259#post3673259 drivers
    but if someone could re upload them i could give them a try
