I was thinking of getting the 901, but I can't find it with XP. I was thinking of getting the Linux one and installing Windows. Is this possible or is it locked out for some crazy reason?

I don't think it's locked out, I guess you can use a retail copy of WinXP without problems. Check first that the drivers are available at support.asus.com.
EEE owners please correct me if I'm wrong. -
Getting the right drivers could be a problem alright.
-
Not if that model is offered elsewhere with XP. Then you should only need to go to support.asus.com and download the XP drivers.
-
It shouldn't be too much of a problem since the 901 is offered in flavours of XP and even if it only came with Linux, some drivers from the 1000 series should be useable.

I believe all Asus EeePCs have XP drivers available from the Asus website. I have just checked, and XP drivers are available for the 901.
Click on the website below and select "Eee Family" -> "Eee PC" -> "901/XP"

Great.
What about Linux itself? I hear the distro the EEEs come with is kind of poor, so I'd probably use another Distro like Debian. Can you dual boot/partition with a SS drive, or have Linux on a properly formated Flash drive? -
I don't see why not. But you would need to do your own research. Maybe head over to eeeuser.com, they have a lot of info on the EEE.

IS it possible to install XP from a netbworked CD drive? The other ways seem awfully complicated.
