Hello,
I'm currently planning to buy a F8Sn-C1 pretty soon. I'm going to buy it with Vista Pre-Installed (because its cheapest), then going to install XP on it (because I still have a couple of licenses left). I checked on ASUS website for the drivers, some of the say "Any OS", while others say "Vista 32bit"... Do they work on XP ? Or do I need to find other drivers somewhere else ?
Thanks

You can order F8Sn-C1 with XP pre-installed from several reputable sources.
This way you can avoid all the troubles, but if you like adventures, you can do it by yourself too. All the information needed you can find inside 'stickies' -
I checked the sticky, they only have the 'down-grade guide' for the F8Sv. I'm looking for the F8Sn drivers only. Does anyone have links for the F8Sn-C1 XP Drivers ? Or do the ones on the Asus Website work on XP ? Can anyone share their experience ? Can anyone give me a link ?
Thanks -
I really need a Xp driver to my f8sn-b1 too...please someone, I already found xp driver video...but I need drivers for the others components..
PS: down-grade guide for me dont work cuz I have vista Home premium
thx a lot sorry about my english..
great site. -
I'm not sure of the differences between the F8Sn and the F8Sa - but XP driver-wise there may not be many differences. A few of us here on NBR have loaded XP on F8Sa's with 97% success - not 100% because there appears to be no XP driver for the IR module. I haven't used IR for years (think Palm IIIc and 1999
) so the lack of IR doesn't bother me. The only fly in the ointment was sound - chipset, wireless, etc were not difficult. Seems like someone put up a guide - you might want to search on F8Sa and XP.

I dont use IR too...
thanks for you explanation .) I will search this thread...but if i not found it, i will edit this post to you help me if you want .)

I really cant find this post.... can you help me? -
instead, someone should find/get the model number of each part of the laptop. Then its just a matter of typing the number and XP on google....

Hum, good idea, my notebook is not here yet, but I can do that, I need to disassemble my laptop to find model number or I can do that with some program???
Thanks a lot. -
Your model is F8Sn-B1. Find the specs for your notebook @ Asus website & it will list a lot of hardware in your notebook then you can do as suggested re individual part info.
Since the F8Sn's are fairly new you probably will not want to put your full model info as that may cut down on your hits.
You can try something like "F8Sn & XP drivers" & see what you get. If you do not get much info you can cut back on the F8Sn to just "F8 & XP drivers".
Just experiment with applied info to see what's best for you.
Here's some driver links that you may want to check out:

There is also a link to an XP downgrade guide for the F8S model, on the Info Booth sticky. Perhaps much of that will apply.
Edit: I saw you mentioned that already. Did you try to use that guide? I still suspect many of the drivers might work.
Also, you can try installing Vista drivers from the drivers CD, many of them might work in XP as well.
XP on F8Sn
