I installed XP Pro x64 on the second hard drive of my G71G. I can pick the boot drive with the ESC popup menu.

So far I have almost everything working except for the webcam.

Anyone know where to find an XP driver for the Suyin webcam?

    Thanks.

I couldnt find any drivers for it either, gotta give them time. But I was looking on the asus site where you can download all the driver disks etc. Most of the Driver disks arent coming for XP anymore, only Vista. If you want that specific driver you may have to go to the makers site but I still doubt they would have the driver readily available...

The above linked page has every single webcam driver ASUS ever published and there is not a single x64 compatible one (or at least not explicitly stated)... not sure where you find it

Hey N1MBL3 it already comes with Vista64. It's a pretty nice install. I left that on the primary hard drive but installed XP pro 64 on the second hard drive.

YUP, finding web-cam drivers is a PITA. :D

I downloaded one from that page that looks very promising. It is listed as being for xp32 but inside of the file is the 64 bit driver as well! I will check it when I get home. Thanks guys. :p

And if anyone is interested in x64 drivers I can put all that I have together and maybe put them up somewhere.

I have the overclocking working with asus power4gear and I have the latest Nvidia graphics and RTL sound and NIC and wireless. I just have two marks in my device manager, one for the camera, and one for what I think is the Nvidia HDMI audio, but I found a driver for it this morning, and have to try it, and the camera driver out when I get home.

    I think I have a complete package.

By the way, it is very snappy in XP x64 and has a very low memory footprint, not that it's slow in Vista or anything. :)

Or you can use the drivers disk to install the webcam, I've tried this many times for different models and they all worked.

Just insert the disk and go to device manager, right click on the webcam and click update driver, just let it do automatic search for the driver.

OK, I got the Nvidia HDMI audio driver installed, but that opened up another unknown device in device manager. Any idea what that is?

But no luck with the webcam. The XP drivers that appeared to have an x64 driver in them, had Vista x64 drivers? I tried about five different ones from the asus site and all had the same phenomenon.

And no luck with the Driver disk either GenTechPC.

I'm almost ready to give up on the webcam.

I would seriously consider in going to Vista x64, it is known that there are a lot of driver issues with XP x64.

Also note that memory consumption differences btw Vista and XP are normal. Vista uses SuperFetch (google).
