Hi everyone, I need the bios which comes on the restore/utilities disc for the Z53SC or F3SC it should be something like f3scas.201 I guess or z53scas.201. The earliest on the support site is 203. This is driving me nuts, I upgraded to version 203 and now it keeps asking for the password, if I use escape 3 times it will allow me to boot BUT the date stays at May 2007 ?? If anyone can asist me I would appreciate it.

Well can't you just reset the password from the BIOS?

Or just reset to BIOS defaults?

If the password is set, I'm not sure that downgrading will help, because the BIOS settings (incl. passwords) are usually stored on a separate memory.

Hi thanks for the response, I have read on this forum that if I used the utitility disc it has the first bios on it which can be written in dos using the flash program, this resets the bios completely including the silly password, which aprt from getting into the bios is useless, as I can still boot to vista, I can still rebuild the laptop by using escape to use boot pop up menu to select the dvd drive. I am keen to at the very least try this method rather than send the machine into Asus for the reset

Sure, you can try rewriting the BIOS but as I said don't be surprised if this doesn't remove the BIOS settings. (I can't guarantee either way since I'm not sure about the implementation details)

Check my BIOS update guide for several ways to update/rewrite your BIOS.
