Hey anyone know where else to buy a Z62F in the UK? I only know 1 company selling it at the moment - www.rizeon.com.

They said they would be getting in the Z96j with 256MB 1600X in the next 3 weeks for anyone interested.

Any other companies who use Asus as an ODM? Everyone seems to be selling uniwill and clevo based models.

Just a heads-up playermaker, if you'd rather have the Z62F machine WITH a dedicated GPU (GeForce Go 7300), the Z62J is going to be released (hopefully) by the end of April... but that's in the US and Canada, not sure about the UK :/

hmm i think the rizeon one is working out cheaper for specs because the other website does not mention an optical drive at all and rizeon offer a longer guarantee.

Z62J huh...i don't think it will be in the UK...but i think if anyone wanted a 14" notebook with dedicated graphics then the compal gl30 which is coming out...again probably not in uk, lol...will be the ultimate 14" with geforce 7600, finger print reader, webcam, etc etc...and i think compal has very good build quality too, never read anything negative about their whitebooks.

Hmm.. I've never heard of Compal before... do you have any links? I searched google, found nothing, and nothing on this Forum either.

ASUS is coming out with the A8J soon which is comparable to the specs you listed

Compal is an ODM, like ASUS, Wintec, Clevo, etc. They make laptops for large companies, Compal has also started making barebones.

there's a picture of it in the "other manufacturers" thread. So far it seems only Compal has a real rival to the A8 series. ECS has something similar too..but I just don't trust their quality.

ok ppls...I think Asus are still the best overall but compal are getting better...i just don't like the look of some of their laptops...even an ugly asus is ok by most standards...i think the z62series is actually smart and simple and i think z96j is actually not bad either.
I'm waiting for Arima to bring something else out too...but i will get a z62f, don't need anything more than that, cheap, smart 14" with good battery and good screen.

you can check out compal and arima notebook pics etc at:

    http://www.marasst.com/

and this taiwan site has compal and uniwill mostly...a lot of things i have never seen:

    oh well happy browsing ppls
