1- Does it use a SATA or an IDE hard drive?
2- Does the default battery (I guess 6-cell) bulge out from the back? Or are those pictures of a larger one (if it exists)?

It uses a PATA, IDE, pretty much.
The 6 cell fits flush right in. -
So the pics on proportable's and g2p's sites are of a bigger battery? Any idea on availability and life on that? Could always make use of more juice on the go

Yes, those are pictures of the 9 cell battery... right now, I don't think it's out otherwise we'd have it... usually those things come in 3-4 weeks after the model is released.
This model was designed with a 6 cell which fits flush.
.. and yes, it uses a PATA hard drive, not an SATA. -
thanks. That is a good option, I am guessing ~5-6hrs battery life, and it doesn't look too much of a size increase.

the 9 cell will stick out as much as the 6 cell sticks out on the W5 and Z33... about 3/4". The only problem I have with it is that the battery is off center - unlike the W5 and Z33... and the bigger battery won't look *as* cool as it does on the other models.
.. but always something you can pick up down the road.
