Well, originally living on the east coast, Utah is certainly a ummm, interesting place to live. I plan on moving somewhere far far away from Utah to go to grad school. Utah is a very different place for lack of a better word. The people are way to nice, but then again we are all hopped up on Prozac [

Yes, I like Utah quite a bit. I'm an outdoors type of guy, and we've got some pretty rugged mountains here, not to mention the best snowboarding around. It's getting pretty crowded, though. I start MBA School at BYU this fall, so I'm committed here for 2 more years, then, who knows?
Anyway, Im getting a gig of ram, either a 1.73 or 1.86 processor, DVD/CDRW, and I was planning on a 60/7200 hard drive, but I might opt for a 60/5400 to save $$$. I plan on ordering from ISTNC right now, pending some stuff I might decide a 60/7200 is what I want (ISTNC is out) - then it would be Justin (ProPortable). I hope Justin doesn't hold it against me. I figure 1 notebook is just a drop in the bucket for them.
Seagate vs Hitachi (60/5400 for both) anybody?

We're back out of the 60gb/7200rpm drives also - but I wouldn't suggest putting one in anything under a 15" system..... I feel the heat and battery life isn't worth it on a system with integrated graphics....... but if you think that you'll make use of that drive but don't need the power in the graphics, more power to you.
Seagate makes a nicer 5400rpm drive. Heat and battery life of a 4200rpm...... Also have 5 year warranties on them.
Keep in mind 80/100/120 gb 7200rpm sATA drives are about a month or so it's one reason Hitachi hasn't brought in any more drives and the biggest reason all of the distributors have been out for months. I can say most people have told me they were either getting no hard drive or say a 40gb/5400rpm just because they planned on upgrading later in the summer. Of course they only got no hard drive if they already had something to get them by.
Thanks,
Justin

Seagate it is. I'm excited to get this baby.
About the Great Salt Lake. It's a big lake, but I haven't swum in it. Supposedly the salt content is so high that it increases the density to the point where the average person floats easily. It's the last remnants of Lake Bonneville, which encompassed several states way back when. So, there's your history for the day.
ELinett - my bet is that it will perform the same as the W3V or W3A (keeping in mind the V has dedicated graphics). I am quite stoked to know it comes with the glossy screen. That was totally unexpected. -

Totally unexpected is right. Asus didn't even think it would have it until it came in that way.......... they actually ordered them with a matte screen. The only unfortunate thing is some people were waiting for the Z63a just becasue they didn't like the glaretype screen...... so to those people, i'm sorry.
Thanks,
Justin

any chance that the z63a comes to canada? if so.. when?

My guess is about 2 weeks or so...It took just over two weeks (approx.) for the W3V to hit stores over here once it had landed in the USA...same with most of the other models. So it shouldn't be too long. If anyone else has a more specific ETA to offer please do. [8D]

I can't wait until they're available here[|)]
I want one so badly!

It's my understanding that the z63a (W3a)and Z33a (m5a) were both sold out before the end of Friday. With that, I'm going to assume that those two models won't be reaching Canada in the next two weeks.... 3-4 I can see.

Sold out??? When do you expect more?
-
Damn it!!
The resellers here are slow enough...
the z71v was up from retailers almost 3 weeks after it was released in the US! -
PROPortable Company Representative
We're not sold out..... Asus is. I don't want to say the Canadian dealers get the scraps... but usually when they sell out in a couple days, it means only a handful of US dealers bought them all out.
Thanks,
Justin

Phew!
Is the Z63A Dual-Channel?
-
PROPortable Company Representative
All the sonoma based Asus models are dual channel I believe. The Z63a certainly should be as the W3v is.

Justin
