I've had my Z63A for a little over a year now and am happy with its performance, except for battery life. It no longer holds a charge - not even a little bit. I would like to replace the Li-Ion cells, but I can't figure out how to open the casing without damaging it. I sent an email to Asus tech support and received this reply from Fred Hsu: " we are unable to advice you on opening up the battery and replacing the cells."
Has anyone already done this? Or does anyone know the procedure to open it? Thanks.

I'd like to know how this is done as well. The W3J battery is similar to the Z63A I think.
What types of cells were you planning on replacing the original ones with and where are you getting them? -
Until I get it opened, I won't know exactly what it needs (how many cells, with or w/o tabs, etc). But it should cost less than $20 to replace them. Here is a typical source for potential replacements:

I personally recommend against this. If you do something wrong, then you risk major trouble to your laptop. Just get a new battery from a Vendor or the Asus e-Store.

If you buy third-party, you take your chances. Don't forget these battery modules are chipped - they're smart batteries, they aren't like some AA batteries you buy from the store.
Also, I don't think the bamboo battery is designed to be opened... the last I saw, it seems quite... well... seamless...
eStore is down. You could probably call ASUS' RMA department and have them send over the CC forms to order one.
