ok I love the size and feel of the Sony S series. I'm just wondering if anyone has compared the two. I can get really good deals on Asus and I use their boards exclusively in all my builds but I've never layed hands on one of heir laptops. It looks great in pics. How is it in size, weight, build compared to the Sony S series. strengths/weaknesses comparatively? thanks.

PS I'm coming from a Dell 8600 15.4" WUXGA. I love the high res but need something smaller and lighter. I'd go for a Sony TX but can't justify the cost. the limited battery life on the small Asus doesn't apeal to me.

I've tried out both (not for an extensive time, just side by side at a computer show). it's slightly wider, but the keyboard feels much more comfortable to use as is the touch pad buttons.. i'm not too much of a fan on the S series button. from reviews, It seems the Asus has a better battery life. the S will be a bit lighter though.

ya I'm thinking the little extra weight is worth it. considering ~$1300 for z63a with 2.0, 80gb(7200rpm), 1gb dual channel ram, DVD burner, a/b/g...... to match that with the sony is going to be a bit more I think. that should be a killer little work machine.
