Hello. Anyone please let me know if you've had experience putting an NEC ND6500A DVDRW DL drive in an Asus Z70V. Otherwise, please tell me what drives work with the supplied carrier and, particularly, faceplate. Specifically, does anyone know if the Pioneer DVR-K15 is one of the drives supplied by Asus? TIA.

I know this question was already pointed directly at me, but the faceplate connections and eject button on the NEC drives is different from those that are made for the Z70v...... infact, you can't use the pinoneer on there either as Asus didn't make a faceplate for the z70v for that drive.... only a toshiba and panasonic drive.

Yes, Justin, I was just seeing what others might have to say, but thanks for all of your responses. For others here, Justin has also told me that one of the stock drives is the Pioneer DVR-K14AS. I'd prefer a Pioneer over Toshiba or Panasonic. My only further quesition would be whether I could use a stock DVR-K14 or 15 and swap the faceplate, if anyone knows. Thanks again.

That pioneer is off the W1n...... not the z70v...... if I knew your intention I wouldn't have said you could use it with a Z70v faceplace though... becasue that doesn't work... just like the NEC wouldn't.

So the faceplate for the Z70V fits only a Panasonic UJ831B or the Toshiba/Samsung TS-L532A? Is that correct?
-
The Toshiba/Samsung model is also essentially identical to the Toshiba SD-R6572, I believe.

Asus made a faceplate to fit the two brands they are offering at this current moment..... so toshiba and panasonic......... period...

And, finally, are they the same faceplate or one for each brand? I'm trying to find out what brand of CD-RW the laptop I'm looking at came with. Thanks.

Thanks, Justin. You've answered my question very well.
