z71v is for hardcore gamers and is more of a desktop replacement.

z70v has carbon fibre body and is lighter and slimmer ,plays games adequately.more suitable for your needs ,in my opinion

I would definately say the Z70. It is a better all around laptop for the occasional gamer. It also just looks nicer.

Well you can certainly look this information up yourself since you have the specs of both graphics cards.

    Z71v - 128mb Nvidia Go 6600
    Z70v - 64mb ATI x600

The Z70v is the best all around machine that Asus' has ever made... that goes back a year and a half to the M6 series....... solidly built, great screen, nice weight.... upper end performance. The only thing is, you're not going to be "limited" to the games you play, but rather... the way you play them. You can play just about anything with the 64mb ATI card, but you'll probably have to lower the settings a bit. I can play doom 3 on my W1 with 64mb ATI 9600.. the x600 is only a better card..... and I can play it quite well on there and yet the settings are pretty high, but not the highest.

Thats about the only place you're going to see a difference.

    Thanks,
    Justin

whoops... was that early in the morning........ nope 11:20.. well early for me... That is a typo, but the Z70v is still the best all around choice.

The Z70v is definitely the way to go. I love mine. I have a powerful desktop for heavy gaming, graphics, multimedia, etc. The Z70v is a perfect partner for it. I'm writing a review on the 70v, but will probably have to return it to have a defective speaker replaced.

Like I said, the M6 has always been popular.... not much to dislike about it.... especially the new Z70v refresh.... it basically solved the few things people said would have been nice... like the higher resolution widescreen.
