I have a Z70VA that I've attached a 20" Dell 2005FPW flat panel monitor to via the VGA port.
When I extend the display, it says the resolution is at the native 1680x1050 (same as the laptop display). However, it's obvious it not correct.
If I go to the Advanced tab, and click on displays, it lists the resolution as 1600x1050.
I recently installed a driver for the flat panel via Windows Update, but it didn't make any difference.
    Any ideas?

    Thanks.

    Give PowerStrip a go.

Powerstrip is an option, a good one infact, but you should try reinstalling your display drivers.

If you're using third party drivers, I suggest using Ati's Catalyst drivers instead.

Wait I'm kinda confused, you said when you EXTEND your display it says it's at its native 1680x1050, what is IT?

You might want to try getting the latest ATi Catalyst Drivers just incase. If your still running the Asus OEM drivers, it's really old! This might fix your problem.
